Twisted Thursday #9 - Hurray, hurray - it's the 5th of May [almost]!!

It's time for another Shirley's 2 Girls Twisted Thursday already! Holy smokes - where has the month of April gone?!! It's almost May - yikes!!

This week we have another fun sketch for you to play with, and the "twist" is to ADD DIMENSION. So Cinco de Mayo is a big holiday in my house, especially this year. First of all, it's my daughter's and son-in-law's anniversary! This year they're celebrating three fabulous years together. And what a fun idea, right? Get married on Cinco de Mayo so that every year their anniversary is a party!! Woohoo!! The other reason May 5th is a big deal this year is because the same daughter that is celebrating her 3rd anniversary is also celebrating her big win on Wheel of Fortune!! May 5th is the day that her Wheel of Fortune episode will air on TV. Isn't that so exciting?! I won't tell you how she did in case you decide you want to watch it - but I will tell you it was EXCITING!! I got to fly down to LA and watch her play. It was so much fun to watch how the show is filmed and all the "behind the scenes" stuff - I just soaked it all up like a sponge. Vanna and Pat are just as cute as they look on TV. I probably need to figure out how my TIVO works before the show airs, huh? But you can bet I'll be right there in front of the boob tube watching!!

So back to my card. I made this card to commemorate Cinco de Mayo, and used another fun Shirley's 2 Girls image called Cinco de Mayo (imagine that!!) (SG36). I added dimension all over the place - I popped up the image panel, and those funky squares on the bottom. I also added more dimension by adding glitter to the main image. That's just two ways to add dimension . . . I'm sure you can come up with other creative ways to add dimension to your card.

We'd love for you to play along with us. Here are the deets of the challenge:
  • Create a card, following this week’s sketch and ADD DIMENSION - embossing, popping up all or portions of your image, layers, etc. - let your imagination go wild!!
  • You are not required to use Shirley’s 2 Girls stamps, but if you have them, we’d love for you to use them!
  • Upload your card to your favorite online gallery and/or your blog. If you upload to SCS or PCP, please use the keywords S2GSC9 AND shirleys2girls.
  • Post a direct link to your card using Mr. Linky ON THIS POST.
  • The deadline for uploading your card is Sunday, May 3, 2009 at midnight (PDT).
  • The winner will be chosen using Random.org, so everyone has a chance to win. The winner will get to choose a stamp from the Shirley’s 2 Girls product list, and the winning card will be showcased here on my blog as well as on the Shirley’s 2 Girls challenge blog.

Try It Out Tuesday #16 - Half the Fun!

Suzanne Dean is at it again - she's such a clever girl, I tell ya!! She's challenged the design team for Susana's Custom Art & Card Design to create a card using an image that is cut in half, or cropped so that part of the image is missing. Yikes!! When I say that this was a challenge for me, that is a flippin' understatement. Then I remembered that I had this fun new Rubber Romance image called Girl's Night Out. I made my own headless drinkie girls - how flippin' clever am I?!! I realize of course that I didn't invent this brilliant idea, but I thought that what I did was pretty innovative, don't you?!! I mean, who needs that "other" stamp company when you have Rubber Romance?!! I cropped the image with my Rectangle Classic Nestabilities, then added layers to give the appearance of a wine bar window. I even used a piece of acrylic cardstock for the window. I paper-pieced the drinkie girls' dresses. Look at the one on the far right - those big polka dots would make my booty look HUMUNGOUS!! LOL I colored their hair and bodies with my Copics, and presto, change-o!! Headless drinkie girls at a wine bar!! Thanks, Suzanne, for another fun Try It Out Tuesday Challenge!

Since today is my last day as a guest designer for Susana (it really is this time!! LOL), I just want to thank Susana and her amazing Design Team for making this experience such a fun one. You ladies are a group of some of the nicest women I've ever "met" and I will treasure all the fun times (and stressful ones, too!) that I've had the joy of experiencing the last two months. But don't you worry - I'll be your stalker for life!! LOL

Accessories: True Black 3/8" Satin Ribbon (PTI), Stampin Dimensionals, Scalloped Edge Punch (SU), Tag Trio (Spellbinders), Xyron, Copic Markers, Rectangle Classic Nestabilities, Cuttlebug

A Happy Hello!

Hola Peeps!! My kids are still here, so if I'm kinda MIA this week, I know you'll understand.

I needed a "just because" card for my stash, so I pulled out my recently purchased Karen Lockhart Rooster. Can I just tell you how much I love Karen Lockhart images? Well, I do!! I picked this one up from Susana's Custom Art & Card Design and knew that it would look ultra yummo-licious paired with this breath-takingly gorgeous Graphic 45 DP. Don't you just love it?!! The quality of this paper is sooo substantial and exquisite. I just love their dramatic images. The layout came from a card that I saw on Julie Campbell's blog, Stamped In His Image. I love to try fun new folds, and I thought this image and the layout were just meant to be. Yummy, huh? Here's a photo of the card when the ribbon is untied.

PAPER: So Saffron CS, Riding Hood Red CS, True Black CS (PTI), Vintage Cream CS (PTI), Botannicabella DP (Graphic 45)

And if you've been hanging around my blog at all the last few days, this card might look a little familiar. Yep, I basically used the same layout and designer paper as on THIS POST. Try It Out Tuesday #15 - Make A Wish!

Suzanne Dean has challenged Susana's Custom Art & Card Design's DT once again. This week, she challenged us to create a card and add as much bling as we could bring ourselves to use without making it too tacky. Uhhhh - is there such a things as "too tacky"? Not as far as I'm concerned!! If you know me, you know that I believe that I was a "ho" in a previous life because I LOVES ME SOME BLING!! LOL So this challenge was easy peasy for me!! I used a new Eat Cake Graphics image that I got from Susana's store called Poppy. Isn't she adorable? To bling her out, I've added Kaisercraft Rhinestones, Doodlebug Glitter on her wings, and shimmery pastel chalks. I used my new Spellbinder's Labels Three Nestabilities, and I used my Quickie Glue Pen to add some Dazzling Diamonds around the outside embossed edge. I think if you click on the picture, you can get a closer look at all the dazzling glitteriness (yep, that's a word!). You might need shades it's so blingy!! LOL

Oh, and by the way, I used another A-MAZING product that I recently got from Susana's store that I just wanted to shout from the roof tops about how great it is! With all this sparkly goodness, you can imagine all the flippin' glitter that found its way all over my stampin' studio (code for my kitchen - hehehe). Well, I pulled out my recently purchased Scor-Pal Glitter Clean Up Cloth and it sucked up all that glittery goodness in a flash!! No joke - not a speck of glitter was left on my countertop. You've GOT to get one of these babies, I tell ya!

Thanks, Suzanne, for another fun Try It Out Tuesday challenge. I don't know how she does it every week, but Suzanne comes up with some doozies!! I know you'll want to see what the rest of Susana's Design Team ladies have come up with in response to Suzanne's challenge, and you can check them out on the store blog, Follow Your Heart.

ENABLER ALERT!! Smirks stamps are 50% off and the individual bottles of Doodlebug Crushed Velvet Fun Flock are 25% off. Now THAT'S what I call a sale!!
