Washi You Were Here–LOL!!

Washi You Were Here

Hello Kiddles!!

I’m back today to share a little morsel I cooked up for the latest Moxie Fab World Challenge – Get Daring With Decorative Tape.  I am such a fan of Cath’s challenges, and this one is no exception, especially since she forces me to use untouched craft supplies that I’ve had for eons.  So for that, I thank you, Cath!!  Plus, her inspiration almost always revs up my mojo – again, many thanks, Cath!!  LOL  Coincidentally, this week’s CARDS Gallery Challenge is to use Washi Tape, too – the stars are aligned!!

So, my vision was a city skyline – maybe a Miami Beach city skyline.  LOL  I recently picked up a new EK Success Plaid Border Punch that I just HAD to have but was totally perplexed as to how to use it in my designing.  Then it hit me – if I punched the Washi tape with the Plaid Border Punch, it would look like windows in skyscrapers.  Brilliance, I tell ya!!  LOL  And super easy, too!

Since Washi Tape has a light adhesive, you can stick it and remove it pretty easily.  So I stuck each strip of Washi tape onto some vellum and punched the Plaid Border Punch.  Then I used my handy dandy tweezers to peel it away from the vellum and adhere it to the image panel.  I think you’re supposed to tear the Washi tape – but I just can’t do that.  I think it’s against my religion . . . it’s just too messy for my eye to handle.  So, I cut a few of the tapes at an angle at the top.  I love the dimension that each building has.  I stamped the Hero Arts Grid background in Provincial Gray Fresh Ink to add to the graphic feel of the buildings, and the polka dot road was stamped using Polka Dot Basics from Papertrey Ink (stamped with Slate Fresh Ink).  The sentiment is from the Hero Arts Wish You Were Here clear set.

That’s it for me today, friends.  I’m off to crop at a friend’s house today . . . it’ll be the last time for a few weeks as my kids will be here next week.  Oh I can’t wait for that!!  Thanks for stopping by today – your visits and comments mean the world to me!

MIA and A New Business!

Hola Peeps!

Yes, I know . . . I’ve been MIA for a bit.  I’m sorry about that.  We had our grandson here for five days and absolutely reveled in the glow of being grandparents.  We had so much fun with him, and felt completely lost when we handed him back to his parents.  I miss him desperately, but will get to smother him with kisses again really soon – they’ll be coming back down to the desert on March 1st, so I don’t have too much longer to wait.  Can’t wait for that!!  The day after Brecken left, my father-in-law ended up in the hospital – he was experiencing some leg pain and shortness of breath.  Thankfully, the doctors discovered that he had three blood clots – one in his calf, one in his thigh, and one large one that is “saddled” between his lungs.  Yep!  He’s got an angel watching over him.  Thank God!  So we’ve been spending quite a bit of time with him at the hospital and giving my mother-in-law a few breaks to clear her head.  And thankfully he’s feeling much better, the blood thinners are doing their work, so he can be released this morning.  Again, we see this as a miracle – most don’t survive six hours when a blood clot ends up in your lungs.  We are so grateful to all the physicians and medical staff that took care of him.

Birthday Fishes 2

Okay, now that I’ve bored you to death with all of my family happenings, I thought I’d share a quick card with you.  More Paper Smooches goodness, right?!  I used Birthday Buddies to create the fishy and the sentiment – I actually cut the photo polymer sentiment so that I could stamp it all wonky like that.  The layout was inspired by a card that I saw on Maile Belle’s blog a while ago.  That girl is so stinkin’ clever, I tell ya.

Lastly, I wanted to share with you that my daughter, Ashley, has opened up an Etsy shop in an effort to sell some of my cards, as well as some gorgeous craft projects that she and my other daughter, Amy, have been creating lately.  The Grand Opening of Cards By Paper Therapy is today.  I’d love for you to stop by and check it out.  I believe that Ashley will be having a Grand Opening Sale, so if you’re in the market for some hand made cards, you really should stop by!

That’s it for me today, kids!  As always, I so appreciate your visits and sweet comments.  I hope you have a great day, and that you’ll come back again real soon!

I’m Lost Without You!

Happy Thursday, Friends!

Im Lost Without You

Popping in really quick to share another Paper Smooches card with you.  I am so in love with all of the images in the Birthday Buddies set, especially this hilarious beaver/mole/ground hog.  Doesn’t he just make you laugh when you look at those beady eyes and those funny buck teeth?  I paired him with the new October Afternoon Campfire DP.  My vision was that he’d be popping through the map because he’s lost.  Get it?!  LOL  I love how it turned out!  The sentiment was computer generated, using SNF Goody from Scrap N Fonts.  Did you know that you can buy Kim Hughes’ handwritten fonts?  There are several different fonts, all of which are adorable!!  You can find them all HERE.

That’s all for me today, kids.  My grandson is here visiting through Sunday, so I am in Grandma Heaven!!  I’ve missed my little bug so much, so you can imagine that I’ll be spending every free minute basking in the glow of his sweetness.  Have a great day, and thanks so much for stopping by!

CARDS Magazine Doily Challenge!

Happy Monday, Friends!

Hope you had a great weekend – mine was pretty quiet and uneventful due to a little bit of a stomach bug.  But I’m feeling much better today, and am off to crop with friends.

Doily Challenge

Thought I’d share a card I made yesterday (while hubby was at a “Boys Only” Super Bowl Party) for this week’s CARDS Gallery Challenge, which is to use doilies in your design.  I adore doilies; in fact, I’m just plain OBSESSED with doilies, and own them in many forms – doily stamps, paper doilies, rub on doilies, chip board doilies . . . you name it, I’ve got it.  So I was thrilled to pieces to see that Paige’s new challenge asked us to include doilies in our design.  Especially since I haven’t played in the CARDS Gallery Challenges in quite a while.

I used a paper doily that I recently got from Ellen Hutson and trimmed it to fit the DP (new Memory Box design called Brioche).  I added a ZVA pearl flourish for some sweet drama.  The stamped image is from Round & Round, the 2009 Limited Edition set from Papertrey Ink.  This was the first time I inked that baby up, and it felt good!!  The ribbon is Spring Rain from PTI.  I didn’t add a sentiment on purpose . . . it’s nice to have an all occasion card around just in case, right?

That’s it for me today!  Thanks so much for stopping by today – have a great day!

My Fave PTI Project, and some Pubs!

Happy Saturday, Friends!

I’m back today to share a couple of things.  But first, DID YOU SEE THE AMAZING GIVEAWAY ON NICHOLE HEADY’S BLOG?  Over $700 worth of product will be given away to a random commenter.  Holy Shnykies!!  The contest for today is to link up your favorite PTI project for 2010.  Well, I just happened to have made up a baby card for my neighbor a couple of weeks ago, and it uses one of my most fave-a-lave PTI sets ever.

Welcome Baby

It’s nothing over the top gorgeous, but I love how sweet it turned out, and without a lot of hoopla.  KWIM?  That’s one of the things that I love about PTI’s images.  Simple yet sweet enough to stand on their own without a lot of foof!  My neighbor loved it, and so did her daughter-in-law, so that’s all that matters to me.  I used Baby Button Bits for the image and sentiment.

January 2011 CARDS Cover

I also wanted to share the three cards that were published in the January 2011 CARDS Magazine.  Yes, ladies and gents, I said THREE!  Aaacckkkk!!  To say that I was thrilled to pieces is an understatement.  So here ya go!

Let It Snow January 2011 CARDS

Peace Out January 2011 CARDS

That’s it for me today, kids.  I hope to get some stamping done today.  Thanks so much for stopping by today – have a great day!

A RAK, A Sweet Farewell, and a DT Call!

Hello Friends!

Yes, I've posted three days in a row!  Now, don't get used to it, but I really have every intention of being better about posting more regularly.  So, you can hold me to that, for sure.  Deal?  Deal.

I have some incredibly sweet stamping friends that I've never actually had the pleasure of meeting, but adore as if I see them regularly, and meet them for coffee once a week.  Seriously, I feel so incredibly blessed in that department.  One particular group of stamping friends, women that I co-hosted with for several Virtual Stamp Nights on Splitcoast Stampers, mean the world to me, and I just don't tell them that often enough.  We recently all agreed to send each other cards once a month on a rotating basis.  Such a fun idea, right?  Especially since I am so bad about sending my cards to people - this "forced" my hand, which I so need these days.  Well, I got my first card in the mail about a week ago from Jean - naturecoastcrafter on SCS.  Here's what I got:

Is this not so incredibly gorgeous?!!  She made fun of my "favorite" weather pattern - NOT!! - and included a brilliant and witty note inside.  It made my day.  Thank you, Jean . . . your friendship means the world to me.  Truly!

Also, you may have noticed that I didn't post an ABC Toys & Crafts card on Monday.  Sadly, my term as a design team member ended at the end of January.  I enjoyed every minute as a member of the ABC Toys & Crafts Design Team, and will miss my girls so much!  But life goes on, and so does the circle of design team members.  LOL  I want to thank Julie Foote (the owner) for putting up with my nonsense for the last year and a half, and for providing me with this fabulous opportunity.  It has been a real joy.

Which leads me to my last bit of news.  Julie is looking for a new design team, and has posted the call HERE.  If this is something that you think you'd like to try your hand at, you really should apply.  Really, you're not going to find a nicer boss lady, or get the chance to work with some great products.  So, don't walk - RUN to the ABC Toys & Crafts Blog and check it out.  NOW!!  LOL

That's it for me today, peeps.  I'll be back on Monday with some crafty goodness to share with you all.  Hubby is going to a Super Bowl Party (no girls allowed - whatever!) on Sunday, so I'll be a stampin' fool.  Thanks for stopping by today - have a great weekend!!

Paper Smooches Co-Hop!

Hello Friends!!

Have you heard?  Kim Hughes opened a stamp company on February 1st called Paper Smooches!  And believe me when I tell you, these new stamps are ca-YUTE!!  On the first day of every month, she’ll be releasing THREE new whimsical and fun clear stamp sets that she hand draws.  Kim asked me to create a card using one of her February stamp sets.  I used Falling For You on today's card.

Im Nutty for You
She offers high quality photopolymer clear stamps, shaped card templates, a design center and so much more!  There will be a monthly challenge on the the Paper Smooches Blog (free digi stamps are involved)!  Participants will be eligible to be a guest designer for the following month.

Kim was nice enough to include me with 19 other amazingly talented women – women who I’ve been in awe of since I’ve been involved in this industry.  Seriously, I’ve just been pinching myself since Kim asked me to help her today.  Perhaps she did because I ply her with Vente White Chocolate Mochas every Tuesday.  Or maybe it’s because I threatened to beat her with her crutches.  Whichever it is, I am humbled beyond belief to be included among these super talented women.  Please be sure and visit each of their blogs to see the creative deliciousness that they’ve come up with to showcase Kim’s Paper Smooches Stamps:

Love You to the Core!

Hi Peeps!

As promised, I’m back today with something very, very special . . . sort of a sneak peek to whet your appetite for another fun event that will take place tomorrow.

Love You to My Core

This is a sample that I created for a BRAND SPANKIN’ NEW STAMP LINE called Paper Smooches!!  My sweet friend, Kim Hughes, has created a new stamp line based on her incredibly fun and whimsical artistic visions!  Seriously, this girl is an absolute artistic genius, and I have been having a blast creating with her new stamps.  Her new store, Paper Smooches, opened up yesterday, and I was blessed to be there to witness the excitement that her fans showered upon her on her first day.  The new stamp sets were literally flying out the door!!

So back to my card – it was created using one of the three Falling for Younew releases for February, Falling For You.  And believe me when I tell you that this is just one of the darling images in this set.  Check out all the images in the thumbnail here.  Her design team consists of some absolute ROCK STARS!!  Wait until you see all of their beautiful samples to inspire you – you’re going to be blown away, I promise!!

I’ve been lucky enough to be included in an extremely talented group of 20 friends that Kim has asked to participate in tomorrow’s Co-Hop.  So, I hope you’ll stop by again tomorrow to see what we have to share with you.  I am beside myself with excitement and can hardly wait for you all to share in Kim’s new adventure.  If you’re part of Facebook, you can “Like” Paper Smooches by clicking HERE.  Be sure and leave her some love . . . I know she’d enjoy that, and she certainly deserves it!

Thanks again for stopping by today.  I hope you’ll come back tomorrow for more Paper Smooches goodness!
