Holiday Cards & More, Vol. 8 Blog Hop!!

Welcome!!

HCM8_2013_Cover_web

I’m honored to be included among the list of phenomenal designers who were asked to help promote the latest Paper Crafts Magazine special issue, Holiday Cards & More, Vol. 8!  This new issue is chock-a-block full of outstanding and creative holiday projects that include holiday cards, home décor, tags, gift packaging and treat wraps.  The adorable Holly Anderson asked us to create a treat/food wrap, as well as share our favorite holiday recipe.  So let’s hop, shall we?!

Holiday Cards & More Blog Hop Cookie Wrap

I created a Santa cookie wrap that I thought would be fun to include as a holiday party favor or holiday dinner table décor.  Who wouldn’t shovel down Gramma’s nasty green and red jello mold if they had a Santa wrapped cookie sitting in front of them as their reward?!!  I know I would!!  LOL  I created the whole thing using my Silhouette Cameo.  I combined several cut files that I purchased from the Silhouette Online Store to create the perfect holiday cookie wrap (you could easily fill a glassine bag or baggie with holiday candy instead of a cookie).  I’ve listed all of the products that I used below, including the cut files that I purchased and combined.  Just so you know, I wanted to keep this as simple as possible, with the idea that you could easily mass produce them for your holiday event.  Simple is PARAMOUNT when it comes to creating multiples of something, don’t you think?

Here’s a detail shot of the cookie wrap when you lift up Santa’s head (this photo was taken before I decided that I wanted to stamp that fun sentiment from the Paper Smooches Christmas Sampler stamp set!)  I adhered some inexpensive self-adhesive magnet discs to keep the wrap closed.

Here’s a final shot of how I attached the cookie.  I inserted it into a glassine bag, folded the top of the bag over, and stapled the whole thing to the inside of the wrap.  Super simple!

As an added bonus, Holly asked us to share our favorite holiday recipe with you.  Well, no holiday is complete at my house unless a Kahlua Cake is on the dessert table.  In fact, I make this cake as often as I can get away with it – it’s super simple, idiot proof, and DEEEE-LICIOUS!!  The ingredients and directions are included above!!

Each designer in the hop is giving away a copy of the Holiday Cards & More, Vol. 8 issue.  Please comment on my blog by Tuesday, August 13th, and I’ll choose one random commenter to win this amazing issue!

Well, there you go, kids.  The next stop on the hop is one of my stamping heros – Kelly Griglione.  No doubt she has created a fabulous project to share with you!!  Here’s a complete list of designers that are participating in today’s hop, in case you get lost along the way.

Kalyn Kepner
Erin Lincoln
Jeanne Jachna
