Online Card Class STENCILED–Day 1 Homework!

Well hello!!

I know, I know . . . it’s been a minute since I posted here on the ole’ bloggo.  Forgive me!!  To say I’ve been busy is an understatement.  Ever since I got back from CHA, I’ve been playing “catch up” with my life.  But I’m back in the groove, and will be posting on a more regular basis from now on.

Stencling - Cant Get Enough of You

I thought I’d kick things off with the homework that I’ve created for the latest Online Card Class called “STENCILED”!  Oh my goodness, I am having so much fun!!  When we were at CHA, stencils were EVERYWHERE!!  And so many cool designs coming out!  So the ladies in charge of the Online Card Classes are sharing lots of fun techniques and tricks to use with stencils!!  This first project was inspired by Debby Hughes’ (queen of stencils, in my opinion!) lesson, which was pretty straight forward.  Just simple inking in a subtle pattern, and using that as your focal point without taking over the whole card.  So that’s what I tried to do.  I’ll list the products used below.

Stenciling - Thanks

This second project was inspired by Laura Bassen’s video showing us how to use a stencil to apply VersaMark ink, then heat emboss with clear EP, and then inking the white parts that weren’t embossed.  I’m learning that I struggle with the whole ink blending thing for a couple of reasons.  I haven’t perfected the whole pressure thing so that you get that beautiful gradient blended look.  And the biggest thing is that this is MESSY!!  Ick!  LOL  But I’m persevering and giving each technique a try.  Who knows – when it’s all said and done, I might just like getting messy!!  LOL

Okay, that’s it for me for now.  I may pop in later tonight and share two more cards, as there are still two techniques I have to try.  We’ll see how it goes.  In the meantime, thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you’ll drop by again soon!

Sure as heck doesn't look like there were any 'struggles' happening on either of these cards! You are such an awesome student - A+ on your homework!

I love the 'honey' card and how you gradually faded the ink...the splatters are awesome!

Second card - gorgeous and beautifully blended with such pretty colors. The velum panel and the bold sentiment rock!!!

Yep - you're a natural blender!
