MFT May Ingenious Inking Challenge–Watercolor Wash

Hello, friends!!
MFT_IngeniousInking_Sq
Today the My Favorite Things Design Team is sharing their projects for this month’s Ingenious Inking ChallengeThe theme this month is Watercolor Wash.  Fun, right?  Here’s the challenge:

Watercolor is a forgiving technique that produces a wonderfully ethereal look on cards and projects. The beauty of MFT ink pads and refills is their versatility and ability to be used to create such a look. We can’t wait to share the inky projects our team has created this month featuring subtle washes and bold swathes of color. Pull out your brushes and make something beautiful with us!

Here’s my take on the challenge:

Okay, so . . .  maybe I didn’t exactly follow the rules.  Surprise, surprise, right?!  LOL  I thought the challenge was just to watercolor with MFT Ink pads and refills.  And THAT’s what I did!  LOL  Here’s the step-by-steps of what I did:

  1. Trim an A2 top-folding card base from some Smooth White Cardstock; score at 5.5”; perfect the crease with a teflon bone folder.
  2. Ink up the Simply Circles background stamp with VersaMark Ink and stamp it onto the smooth side of some watercolor paper.  Heat emboss with white embossing powder.
  3. Using the Razzle Berry, Lemon Drop, Orange Fizz, Grape Jelly and Blu Raspberry Premium Dye Ink Refills (I squirted a small amount of each onto my Ranger Craft Sheet), dilute each with a bit of water, and with a water brush begin painting inside the embossed circles to create the desired pattern.  Continue this process until you’ve filled in the portions of the embossed circles to create the pattern that you like.  Set aside to dry.
  4. Once your watercolored panel is dry, trim off the edges and adhere to the card base with foam tape.
  5. Die cut sentiment strip from some Black Licorice cardstock using the Accent-It Celebrate Die-Namics.  Trim the sides to align with the watercolored panel.
  6. Stamp the sentiment from the Celebrate Big Stamp Set with VersaMark Ink.  Heat emboss with some Baby Blue Twinkle embossing powder (I had this in my stash).
  7. Adhere the sentiment panel to  the image panel with foam squares.

The randomly filled-in circles reminded me of confetti – like a confetti shower to celebrate a birthday!  That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!  LOL  I’ve listed and linked the products that I used below.

Please click on through to the My Favorite Things Design Blog to see what my rule-following teammates have created in response to this month’s Ingenious Inking Challenge!  LOL  I know you’ll be blown away!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Things may be a bit quiet around here for a few days.  Hubby and I will be packing up and heading back to the Pacific Northwest for the summer.  Can’t wait to get my mitts on those sweet grandbabies of mine! Once I get settled back in, I’ll be back to share more crafty goodness with you all!  So long, for now!!
