My Favorite Things–Scribble Roses Faux Ceramic Tile

Hola!!

KKL_SEP0915-Faux-Ceramic-Tile

I’m back today to share a project that I created with some recently released products from My Favorite Things.  The Scribble Roses Overlay Die-Namics are PERFECT for the Faux Ceramic Tile Technique!!  To say that I am a bit obsessed with this technique is an understatement . . . it’s just such a cool technique!!  Here’s how I created it:

  1. Trim an A2 top-folding card base from some Smooth White Cardstock; score at 5.5”, fold in half and perfect crease with Teflon Bone Folder.
  2. Trim an A2 panel from Smooth White Cardstock and die cut the stitched rectangle using the Blueprints 13 Die-Namics.
  3. Stamp sentiment from the Thanks So Very Much Stamp Set using Black Licorice Pigment Ink and heat emboss with Clear Embossing Powder.  Splatter the panel with gold and black paint.  Set aside to dry.
  4. Trim a 2” square from Stamping Mask Paper; remove the release paper and adhere it to a 2” square of white chipboard.
  5. Using the largest of the Scribble Roses Overlay Die-Namics, run the die and the masked chipboard through a manual die cutting machine.
  6. Carefully remove the outside portions of the mask paper; using a sponge dauber, pounce Sno Cone Pigment Ink onto the outside edges of the chipboard.  Continue to remove portions of the mask and pounce Coral Crush, Peach Bellini and In the Buff Pigment Inks to give the rose a variegated color palette.  Once the chipboard is covered with ink, remove the outline mask.  Heat set the ink to set it.
  7. Apply VersaMark Ink to the tile and heat emboss with Clear Embossing Powder.  Repeat this process three additional times.  Dip the outside edges of the tile into the VersaMark Pad, and heat emboss with Gold Embossing Powder.  Apply one last coat of VersaMark and Clear Embossing Powder.
  8. Apply adhesive runner to the back of the tile and arrange and adhere gold thread.  Trim a 2.25” square of Sno Cone Cardstock and adhere it to the back of the tile.  Adhere the tile to the image panel with foam squares.
  9. Adhere the image panel to the card base with foam squares.
  10. Adhere Sparkling Clear and Metallic Silver Sequins to card base with liquid adhesive.

Can you see why I’m so obsessed?  I mean, seriously . . . does this not look like a REAL ceramic tile?!!  It just makes me happy.  I’ve listed all of the products I used below.  I hope you’ll give this technique a try – it’s so easy!!

That’s it for me today, friends!  I’m off to get my hair cut and drop off my son-in-law’s birthday gift.  Hopefully I’ll get a few snuggles and smooches from my grandkids while I’m there.  BONUS!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!!  I am truly so grateful for the time you spend here!  Hope you have a great day!

At first glance I was sure that it was AN ACTUAL CERAMIC TILE! Cool technique, cool card, cool sproinky thread, cool splatters!

Tile-icious! I've done this with metallic embossing powder for faux metal finish but never thought to use clear EP. Love the results!
