Paper Therapy: My Favorite Things–Creative Construction with Blueprints Challenge!

Well hello!!

I’m spending my last morning with my adorable grandkids, and then they’re headed back to Seattle. But I wanted to pop in quickly to share a project that I created for the My Favorite Things Creative Construction With Blueprints Challenge – Circle Reasoning. Here’s the details of the challenge:

We could go round and round on this topic but we feel confident that circles are the shape we reach for most when it comes to adding soft interest to our projects. Layers, peek-a-boo windows, masks, even shaped cards - there are so many ways to incorporate this classic shape into your crafting and this month, our team is highlighting Blueprints that boast this first-class form.

I love adding circles to my projects because they are such a classic shape and because there’s a symmetry to them that makes my crazy brain happy! I also love circles because they are so often the basis for creating other shapes and images – BONUS! Here’s my answer to the challenge!

Okay, so if you come to my bog often, you know that I am forever reaching for my Blueprints Die-Namics. Each and every set contains multiple dies that make my crafting life enormously joyous! Most of my projects use at least one die from a Blueprints set, but I often use more than 1 Blueprints set. This project is an example of using more than one set of Blueprints and of looking at basic shapes to create another shape or image! Here’s how I created it:

Trim an A2 vertical top-folding card base from Sweet Tooth Card Stock. Score at 5.5”, fold in half and perfect crease with a Teflon Bone Folder.
Die cut a scalloped layer from Translucent Vellum using the scalloped rectangle die from the Blueprints 20 Die-Namics set.
Die cut an image panel from Summer Splash Card Stock using the stitched rectangle die from the Blueprints 24 Die-namics set.
Stamp the sentiment from the Bling It On Stamp Set in the lower right corner using VersaMark Ink and heat emboss it with Silver Detail Embossing Powder.
Adhere a piece of double sided adhesive sheet to a piece of Sweet Tooth Card Stock and die cut the diamond (both the solid and coordinating outline) using the Diamonds Die-Namics (making sure that the dies are on top of the double sided tape side of the paper). Remove the release paper from the top of the die cut diamond and sprinkle Warm Diamond Glitter onto each die cut. Adhere the diamond outline to the solid die cut with liquid adhesive.
Die cut the circle from Silver Shine Card Stock using the smaller circle frame in the Blueprints 16 Die-Namics set. Use the Diamond Die-Namic base to die cut a notch for the diamond to fit into the ring.
Adhere the notched circle die cut to the image panel with foam tape. Adhere the glittery diamond with foam tape, making sure to fit the bottom point of the diamond into the notch of the ring.
Adhere some Sparkling Clear Sequins to the image panel with Glossy Accents. Adhere the scalloped vellum die cut to the back of the image panel, and adhere the assembled image panel to the card base using foam tape for each layer.

There you have it! I had such a blast with this challenge – it always makes me happy when a challenge inspires me to think outside the box and come up with something fun like a sparkly diamond ring!!
