My Favorite Things–Have A Beautiful Day!

Hello!

Happy Monday to you all!!  I’ve got a super busy week ahead of me, but I wanted to pop in today to share a little project that I made with some My Favorite Things products.

I employed a couple of different techniques to create this project.  One is to assemble multiple shaped items (the flowers and leaves) and then arranging them and trimming them to make another shape.  The other technique is one I learned from my sweet friend and teammate, Laurie Willison.  She’s the genius that figured out that by using Press ‘N Seal plastic wrap on pre-arranged die cuts, you can maintain their shape and position as you adhere them to your project – absolutely GENIUS, I tell ya!!  Here’s how I created my project!

  1. Trim an A2 vertical top-folding card base from Sweet Tooth Card Stock.  Score at 5.5”, fold in half and perfect crease with a Teflon Bone Folder.
  2. Die cut an image panel from Grout Gray Card Stock using the scalloped stitched rectangle die from the Blueprints 27 Die-Namics.
  3. Stamp the sentiment from the Spring Wreath Stamp Set at the bottom of the image panel using Black Licorice Hybrid Ink.
  4. Emboss a Pierced Heart STAX Die-Namic into the image panel using an embossing pad.
  5. Watercolor two pieces of watercolor paper, one using pinks and oranges, and the other using shades of green (I used Peerless Watercolors on Ranger Watercolor Paper.)  Allow to fully dry.
  6. Using the Upsy-Daisy Die-Namics, die cut the flowers from the pink/orange  water colored panel and the leaves from the green water colored panel.  Arrange the die cut flowers and leaves on the image panel, inside and outside the embossed heart.  Once you’ve decided on the arrangement, adhere a piece of Press ‘N Seal plastic wrap to the die cuts.  Use the Pierced Heart STAX Die-Namic to trim off the edges of the flowers and leaves so that the arranged die cuts fit perfectly inside the embossed heart.  Adhere foam tape to the backs of all of the die cuts and adhere them to the image panel inside the embossed heart.  Carefully remove the Press ‘N Seal.
  7. Apply a light coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the flowers and leaves.

This really is easier than it looks!!  And I love the final look of the shapes inside a shape.  It’s really another fun way to stretch the use of your dies!  I’ve listed all of the products that I used below.

That’s it for me today, friends!  I’m running some errands most of today, and then I’m headed to my craft room later today!  I truly hope that you have a BEAUTIFUL day, just as my project suggests!!  Thanks for stopping by!

I love this, such an all round pretty card. We don't have press n seal here in the UK, I will have to see if I can import some. Have a great day x

Your card is GORGEOUS!!! Adore the bold, bright colors and am 'over-the-moon' anxious to get home and try the 'Press 'M Seal technique! I cannot count the number of times that I had things laid out perfectly only to mess up the design when I transferred it to paper! Makes sense that the static would hold everything in place! Genius idea!!!

Beautiful card! Love the flowers with the overall heart shape...not sure I've seen this before using die cuts, but it's brilliant! Don't you just love Laurie's "cheats" using that paper?! MFT has some of the greatest flower die cuts!
