Avery Elle–Shark Week, anyone?!

Hello friends!!

It’s Friday – phew!!  LOL  It’s been a super busy week around these parts, and it promises to stay busy for just a bit longer.  But I wanted to pop in today to share a super fun project that I creating using the new Hello Chum Stamp Set and coordinating dies from Avery Elle.  Check it OUT!

How freakin’ fun is this?!!  I created something similar to this for the Avery Elle CHA booth in January – it was a make & take that we provided for anyone coming into the booth.  It’s as easy as it comes to create, and I think would be so fun to hand out at your Shark Week party or a shark themed birthday party – at least that’s what I had in mind when I created it.  If you don’t know someone who makes those amazing cookies – created by my extremely talented friend, Terri from Fresh Cut Flours (she does custom orders, friends, and they’re the best sugar cookie you’ll EVER eat!), then you could fill these treat bags with gold fish crackers, or Swedish Fish candy!! I mean, COME ON!!  Fun, right?!!  Here’s how I created them!

  1. Die cut the bag topper from some Aquamarine Card Stock using the Treat Topper Elle-Ment.  Fold it in half on the scored lines, and perfect the crease with a Teflon Bone Folder.
  2. Stamp the waves from the Hello Chum Stamp Set onto the front of the bag topper using Aquamarine and Pure White Pigment Ink.  I stamped the Aquamarine first, and then the Pure White just offset from the first stamped image to give the appearance of sea spray.
  3. Stamp the sentiments from the Hello Chum Stamp Set onto each bag topper using VersaMark and heat emboss with red embossing powder.
  4. Stamp the shark images from the Hello Chum Stamp Set onto Fog Card Stock using the Fog Dye Ink.  Use the coordinating Hello Chum Elle-Ments to die cut the sharks.  Fill the teeth and eyes of the sharks with a white gel pen.  Adhere the sharks to the bag toppers with foam squares.
  5. I added a bit of white shred in the bottom of each treat bag, again to give the illusion of sea spray as the sharks pop out of the ocean (anyone else think of the scene from “Jaws” when Richard Dreyfuss says “We’re going to need a bigger boat!”?), along with a cookie, and then attached the BACK of the bag topper to the filled bag with a Tiny Attacher (or a mini stapler).  I adhered the FRONT of the treat topper to  the bag with some strong double sided tape.  This way, the adhesive doesn’t show on the front, and you have a really sturdy treat bag!
  6. Finally, I tied a bow to the treat topper using the new Cherry Hemp Twine!  This stuff is AMAZING!!!  It has great body, to hold a perfectly tied bow, and the white is a WHITE white – not that dull, dirty white that other brands have.  That white white makes me happy!

There you have it, friends!!  I think this would make a super fun party favor, for any creative occasion that you can think of!  The possibilities are ENDLESS!!  I’ve listed the products that I used below!  Please click on through to the Avery Elle Design Blog for more delicious inspiration!

That’s it for me today, friends!  I’m headed back to my happy place to get some more deadlines knocked out, and might even take in a movie with a friend tomorrow – if I get all my work done!  I hope you all have some fun plans in store for your day and weekend!  Life’s too short to not have fun plans!  Thanks so much for stopping by today – I’m sure happy that you did!
