My Favorite Things Cooler With You Card Kit Release!

NOTE:  If you’re looking for my Essentials By Ellen Holiday 2016 Blog Hop project, you can find it HERE.

Hello!!

It’s time – the My Favorite Things Cooler With You Card Kit is available in the MFT Boutique NOW!!  So click HERE through and get yours, and then come back to see my cutie patootie project!  I think you’re really going to like it!

This kit is so stinkin’ fun to play with!  I had ideas up the ying yang – too bad there’s only 24 hours in a day, because that simply wasn’t enough time for me to execute all of those ideas!  But the one idea that really tickled my creativity was this:

Cute, right?!!  For me, this was a scene right out of “Frosty the Snowman”!!  But check this out!!

Aaackkkk!! I added a Chibi Light behind that lamp post, and made it light up!!   I’m telling you, this kit is too fun for words, but you throw in some Chibi Lights and you got yourself a party!!  Here’s how I created my project:

  1. Trim an A2, vertical, top-folding card base from Smooth White Card StockScore at 5.5”, fold in half and perfect the crease with a Teflon Bone Folder.
  2. Die cut an A2  image panel from Smooth White Card Stock using the stitched rectangle die from the Blueprints 25 Die-Namics.
  3. Lightly blend some Tumbled Glass and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks at the bottom of the image panel using a Mini Ink Blending Tool.
  4. Using the Snowfall Stencil, apply a coat of Texture Paste to the top portion of the image panel using a palette knife.  Before the paste dries, sprinkle some Warm Diamond Glitter to the paste.  Allow to fully dry – approximately 15 minutes.
  5. Die cut two snow drifts from Smooth White Card Stock using the Hit the Slopes Die-Namics, making sure to cut one slope taller than the other.  Lightly blend some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink on the taller of the two slopes, towards the bottom of the die cut.  Use the stitched rectangle from the Blueprints 25 Die-Namics to die cut the outside edges of the snow drifts.
  6. Stamp the sentiment from the Cooler With You Stamp Set onto the shorter snow drift using Black Licorice Hybrid Ink.  Adhere the snow drifts to the image panel with foam tape.
  7. Stamp the snowman and cardinal from the Cooler With You Stamp Set onto some Smooth White Card Stock using Black Licorice Hybrid Ink.  Use the coordinating Cooler With You Die-Namics to die cut the images.  Color the images with Copic Markers.  Adhere the cardinal to the snowman with Multi Medium Matte, and adhere the snowman to the image panel with foam tape.
  8. Die cut the lamp post from Black Licorice Card Stock using the Streetlights Die-Namics.  Position the lamp post on the image panel, and mark the location of the light with a pencil onto the image panel.  Use a 1/8” hole punch to punch a hole for the light to show through.
  9. Lightly blend some Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink around the punched hole using a Mini Ink Blending Tool.
  10. Position the image panel on the card base and mark the hole on the card base with a pencil.
  11. Adhere the lamp post to the image panel with foam tape, making sure to position the light just above the hole on the image panel.
  12. Die cut some hearts from Poppy Card Stock using the Tag Builder Blueprints 5 Die-Namics.  Adhere the hearts to the image panel with Multi Medium Matte, positioning one of them at the end of the sentiment.  Coat the hearts with Clear Wink of Stella, and then a coat of Glossy Accents.  Allow to fully dry.
  13. Using the Chibitronics Light Starter Kit, create a simple circuit on the card base, placing a yellow Chibi Light sticker on the spot marked earlier.  (For more specific directions as to how to create a simple circuit, please click HERE for a video that I created!)
  14. Adhere two layers of foam tape to the card base and adhere the image panel.

Boom!  There you go!!  How fun would it be to get this baby in the mail?  It’s a little bit of work, but honestly I’ve found creating these interactive projects to be therapy!!!  And the Cooler With You Card Kit just makes my heart smile!!  Get yours NOW!  I’ve listed all of the products that I used below.

Please click on through to the My Favorite Things Design Blog to be linked to the other darling projects that my sweet teammates have created for your inspiration using the Cooler With You Card Kit!  I promise, you won’t be disappointed!!

Love your use of the chibi light! The card was super cute with your addition of the lamp post, but the light up option is so much fun! Nicely done!

Love the cibi lights. they really
add to the scene - though it really
doesn't need anything to beef it up.
It's darling even without the lights.
thanks for sharing.
