It’s almost time to place your order for this month’s My Favorite Things October Card Kit!  It is sooo stinkin’ cute, and super fun to play with!!  Today, we’re thinking “outside the box!”  In other words, we’re using products from the Cooler With You Card Kit, and pairing them with other current My Favorite Things product.  Here’s what I came up with!

Oh my goodness, I love that funny little penguin so!!  And that sweet polar bear pretty much captured my heart, too!!  This whole kit is beyond adorable!!  Here’s how I created my project:

  1. Trim a card base from Smooth White Card Stock, measuring 4” x 11”.  Score at 5.5”, fold in half and perfect the crease with a Teflon Bone Folder.
  2. Trim an A2 image panel from Smooth White Card Stock.  Die cut the panel using the stitched rectangle from the Blueprints 15 Die-Namics.
  3. Mask off the top part of the image panel with post-it tape, and blend Tumbled Glass, Mermaid Lagoon and Broken China Distress Inks on the bottom portion of the panel with a Mini Ink Blending Tool.  Carefully remove the mask.
  4. Using the Hit the Slopes Die-Namics, die cut a slope on the top portion of the image panel.  Stamp the sentiment from the Cooler With You Stamp Set, just above the water line, using Black Licorice Hybrid Ink.
  5. Trim another A2 panel from Smooth White Card Stock, die cut it using the stitched rectangle from the Blueprints 15 Die-Namics, and then use the Hit the Slopes Die-Namics to die cut another slope, making sure that the slope is higher than the front slope.
  6. Lightly blend some Tumbled Glass and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks on the card base using a Mini Ink Blending Tool.
  7. Adhere the tallest snow back panel to the card base with a tape runner.
  8. Adhere the shorter snow bank image panel to the assembled card base with foam tape.
  9. Using the Snowfall Stencil, apply some Texture Paste to the upper portion of the card base with a palette knife.  Carefully remove the stencil, and sprinkle some Warm Diamond Glitter to the wet paste.  Allow the paste to fully dry – about 15 minutes.
  10. Stamp the polar bear, penguin and iceburg from the Cooler With You Stamp Set onto some Smooth White Card Stock using Black Licorice Hybrid Ink.  Color the images with Copic Markers.  Adhere them to the image panel with foam tape.
  11. Die cut a heart from Poppy Card Stock using the heart dies in the Tag Builder Blueprints 5 Die-Namics.  Adhere the heart to the penguin’s hand with Multi Medium Matte.  Apply a coat of Clear Wink of Stella, and then a coat of Glossy Accents.  Allow to fully dry.

This card just makes me happy.  And this kit is my new fave!!  Only one more day and it can be yours, too!!  Please click on through to the My Favorite Things Blog to be linked to the other “outside the box” projects that my sweet teammates have created!  I’ve listed the products that I used below.
