It’s Countdown Day 1 of the My Favorite Things Beautiful Butterflies Card Kit! So I paired those amazing butterfly images and the sentiment from the two stamp sets included in the kit, with some black and white striped paper from the Rainbow Stripes 6 x 6 Paper Pad, one of the Stitched Scallop Basic Edges 2 Die-Namics, and the Distressed Patterns Stamp Set.  Here’s how I created my project:

  1. Trim an A2, vertical, top-folding card base from Smooth White Card StockScore at 5.5”, fold in half and perfect the crease with a Teflon Bone Folder.
  2. Die cut an A2 image panel using the rectangle die from the Blueprints 2 Die-Namics.  Die cut the panel in half using the curved Stitched Scallop Basic Edges 2 Die-Namics.
  3. On a scrap of Smooth White Card Stock, blend some Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean, and Mustard Seed Distress InksStamp the outline image of two of the butterflies from the Beautiful Butterflies Stamp Set (from the Kit) using some Black Licorice Hybrid Ink.  Die cut the butterfly images using the Beautiful Butterflies Die-Namics (from the Kit.)
  4. Die cut an A2 panel from black and white striped patterned paper from the Rainbow Stripes 6 x 6 Paper Pad using the rectangle die from the Blueprints 2 Die-Namics.  Adhere the panel to the card base with tape runner adhesive.
  5. Stamp the paint splatters from the Distressed Patterns Stamp Set onto the scalloped panel using Black Licorice Hybrid InkStamp the sentiment from the You Give Me Butterflies Stamp Set (included in the Kit).  Adhere the stamped panel to the card base with foam tape.
  6. Use your Teflon Bone Folder to gently shape the butterflies, encouraging the wings to have a natural curve.  Score the butterflies down the middle of their abdomen.  Gently bend each butterfly on the score line, and adhere them to  the white image panel using foam tape.

That’s it!  These butterflies are so incredibly beautiful and detailed, they truly take center stage on any project you use them for!  Seriously!  The Beautiful Butterflies Stamp Set includes stamps for each butterfly that for color layering in a multi-step fashion.  I only used the detail stamp of each butterfly and let the ink blending create the dimension!  I’ve listed all of the products that I used below.

Please click on through to the My Favorite Things Design Blog to be linked to the other stunning projects that my amazingly creative teammates have created for your inspiration!  You’ll be blown away – literally!  The Beautiful Butterflies Card Kit will be available at 9 PM EST on Tuesday, February 21st!!  Set your clocks – this one is going to go FAST!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  My kiddos are coming to visit today, so I’ll be a busy little Gramma spending time with my love bugs and hopefully getting in some pool time!  I’ll be back soon with more Card Kit deliciousness!  Until then, have a great day!

I too love the black and white strips used to give an upward "push" to those beautiful butterflies. I liked seeing two different styles of the butterflies on the same card.
