Hello!!
Did you think I fell into a vat of used card stock?! LOL I’ve been uber busy with grandkids and deadlines, but I’m so excited that I get to share my first project with the brand spankin’ new release from My Favorite Things!! It’s a fun one, so I hope you’re ready to be amazed!!
Okay, I’ll be honest. I’m not really a Halloween girl. But now that my grandkids are young enough to really get into the fun of costumes and candy and knocking on doors, I’m kind of liking the fun spirit behind this funny holiday. And I’m ALWAYS in the mood for an interactive card – I figured my grandkids would love this! This project features the new Grave Situation Stamp Set and coordinating Die-Namics, the Slider Channel Builder Die-Namics, and the sentiment is from the Frightful Friends Stamp Set. I paired the new products with some previously released products to make this all work! This is what it looks like when you pull up the white tab at the top:
Eeeek!! How cute are those little ghosts peeking out from behind the graves?!! I had so much fun creating this! Once you figure this all out, the mechanics are super easy to create! I promise!! Here’s how I did it!
- Trim an A2, horizontal, top folding card base from Smooth White Card Stock. Score at 4.25”, fold in half, and perfect the crease with a Teflon Bone Folder.
- Trim an A2 panel of Smooth White Card Stock. Using a Mini Ink Blending Tool, blend Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks for the sky, and Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, and Picked Raspberry for the sunset. Use the stitched rectangle from the Blueprints 15 Die-Namics to die cut the stitched outer edge of the image panel.
- Die cut the following:
a. The hills from Black Licorice and Steel Grey Card Stocks using the dies from the Surf & Turf Die-Namics. Use the bottom edge of the stitched rectangle from the Blueprints 15 Die-Namics to die cut the sides and bottom of the hills.
b. The ghosts and moon from Smooth White Card Stock using the Spooky Scene Die-Namics.
c. The bat from Black Licorice Card Stock using the Spooky Scene Die-Namics.
d. Die cut three of the u-shaped channels from Smooth White Card Stock using the Slider Channel Builder Die-Namics. Adhere all three layers together with liquid adhesive. Use your scissors to snip the bottom u-shape in half, leaving you with two pieces (a left and a right).
e. Die cut the slider panel (curved rectangle) from Smooth White Card Stock using the Blueprints 24 Die-Namics. - Stamp the graves from Grave Situation onto Gravel Gray Card Stock using Black Licorice Hybrid Ink. Highlight the images using Copic Markers, and die cut them using the Grave Situation Die-Namics.
- Stamp the sentiment from the Frightful Friends Stamp Set onto the black hill using Sweet Tooth Pigment Ink. Heat emboss the sentiment with White Detail Embossing Powder.
- Adhere the hills together with small bits foam tape. Temporarily position the hills and graves onto the card base to get an idea of where they’ll be once permanently adhered to the card base. Lightly mark where the graves will be with a pencil and set the hills and graves aside.
- Using the straight slider channel die from the Surf & Turf Die-Namics, partially die cut three channels from the image panel so that the channels will be completely hidden by the graves.
- Assemble the card as follows:
a. Use the curved rectangle to position and adhere the two sides of the slider channel to the back of the image panel with liquid adhesive.
b. Place the curved rectangle into the slider channel (trim off the bottom of the curved rectangle, as needed) and adhere three of the Slider Elements at the bottom of each of the channel openings using liquid adhesive.
c. Adhere each of the ghosts to the tops of Slider Elements with more liquid adhesive.
d. Affix foam tape around the edges of the back of the image panel (being careful not to impede the movement of the Slider Elements/ghosts.
e. Apply a light coat of liquid adhesive to the two sides of the slider channel.
f. Adhere the image panel to the card base.
g. Adhere the hills to the image panel with foam tape.
h. Adhere the graves to the hills with foam tape, being careful to cover the open channels.
It seems complicated, but it really isn’t – I just use a lot of words to describe an easy process! LOL But I’m sooooo happy with how this turned out! If I had it to do over again, I probably would have stamped some kind of pattern or sentiment on the slider tab so that it appears when you pull the tab up. Next time!
