Runway Inspired Challenge #80–Lucky Stars!

Hello sweet peeps!!

RIC80 Graphic

It’s time for the next Runway Inspired Challenge, and boy is it awesome!!  Check out that dress, people!!  Is it not amazing?!!  Here’s my take on the inspiration photo:

Karolyn Loncon - Proposed Inked Background - Smooshed Ink Technique

Fun, right?!!  Clearly, I was inspired by that celestial background in the dress.  I did my faux watercolor/smooshing technique with this background, where I pounce my mini distress ink pads (Broken China, Salty Ocean, and Chipped Sapphire) onto a craft mat, spritz the bajeebers out of them, and then smooshing some watercolor paper onto it, making sure that the whole panel is covered with ink.  I let it dry, and then die cut it with the Falling Stars Die from Simon Says Stamp.  Once I attached the sentiment panel, I die cut both panels with one of the Stitched Rectangles from Lawn Fawn.  The whole card was assembled with foam tape – BOOM!  LOL

The sentiment panel was die cut using the cloud border from Mama Elephant, and the sentiment is from an amazing stamp set by WPlus9 Designs.  I’ve listed all the products I used below, if you’re interested.

We’d love for you all to play along with us!  You can click on through to the Runway Inspired Challenge Blog for all the deets of the challenge, as well as the link up tool for you to link up YOUR take on the challenge!!  The challenge is being sponsored by Ellen Hutson LLC (who just happens to be having a GINORMOUS sale in her store TODAY ONLY (March 17th) – 17% OFF all products in stock in honor of St. Patrick’s Day!), and they are offering up a very generous prize for the winner!  So I don’t know what you all are waiting for – get on over there and play!

That’s it for me today, friends!!  I’ll be spending the day in my craft room trying to get some stuff caught up.  I’m struggling of late with a bit of Vertigo, so I’m hoping that the room will stop spinning enough to let me get some work done1  Ha!!  Thanks so much for stopping by – I sure do appreciate it!

Stamp Nation World Card Making Day Event–Australia!!

It’s me again!!

I hope you’re not sick of me yet!!  This is the first of two posts that will go live on my blog today.  And I’ll have another tomorrow, and another on Sunday!!  Hold onto your hats, people!!  It’s gonna be a super fun weekend!!

I was honored to be asked to join in on what I know will be an amazing all-weekend World Card Making Day event over at Stamp Nation!  If you’ve never visited Stamp Nation, you really should check it out.  It’s an online stamping community full of videos, inspiration, challenges, and some super sweet chicas to “hang out” with!  I recently became a new member, and I’m really enjoying the benefits that Stamp Nation has to offer.  Anyways, I digress!

I was asked to participate in their World Card Making Day event, which basically is a whole slew of talented card designers taking inspiration from locations around the world and creating a card in answer to that inspiration.  Since World Card Making Day actually starts at different times all around the world, different locations will go live at different times over the entire weekend.  I was assigned two different locations, and I get to share a sneak peek of the first one with you here today.

Can you guess which location around the world I took inspiration from?!  No?!  Well, if you click on through to the Stamp Nation site, you can see my entire project, as well as what I’m sure will be other amazing projects by other designers.  You have to be a member of Stamp Nation in order to participate (and I believe be able to see all of the projects), but I can tell you that I haven’t regretted spending the money to join this amazing community one little bit!  For more information about joining Stamp Nation, click HERE.  I think this event alone is worth what it costs to join – you’ll be blown away!!  Here are some additional sneak peeks of what will be shared over at the Stamp Nation site this weekend.  Check it!

Oh and here’s the best part of this event!! We have some awesome sponsors that I’m pretty sure are offering up some pretty amazing prizes!!  They are:

Wow, wow, wow!!  Right?!  Okay, enough babbling for now!  I so hope you’ll join us over at the Stamp Nation site and participate in this fabulous event!!  It’s gonna be a barn burner!!  Thanks for stopping by!  I’ll be back tomorrow AND Sunday . . . we’re having some fun now!!  LOL

OCC Holiday Card Workshop–Day 3!

Hello Friends!

Back once again to share a few cards that I’ve created as my “homework” for the Holiday Card Workshop that I’m taking from Online Card Classes!  I’m seriously enjoying the videos and the samples that the instructors have created for our inspiration.  It’s really helping to boost my mojo again, which makes me beyond happy.  So let’s get to it, shall we?!

The theme of Day 3 was Clean and Simple.  Laura Bassen did a super fun video demonstrating how she creates her signature plaid stamping.  It was fun to watch, but in all honesty, I’m looking to create cards that I can mass produce for sending to family and friends.  So I wimped out and just used some designer paper in place of the plaid.  This literally took me two minutes!!  I’ll list all of the products I used for each project at the bottom of this post.

Shari Carroll shared a great video demonstrating how to stamp on an angle using a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig.  I cheated and didn’t use the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig.  I didn’t have a problem eyeballing the placement of the snowflakes, so I didn’t feel like I needed one.  But I love the look and will most definitely be using this in my future designs.  Oh, and that upper panel is a steel grey – not black.  UGH!  LOL

After watching all of the videos, I decided to see if I could create a CAS holiday card of my own.  I’m pretty darned happy with this, and could see myself reproducing this for our holiday cards.  It really was pretty easy!

Well, that’s it!  I have another fun (and hopefully productive) day of stamping planned for today!  Thanks for stopping by – I hope that you’re enjoying your weekend!!  XOXO
