Runway Inspired Challenge #81–You Are Made of Awesome!
Hello Friends!!
It’s time for the next Runway Inspired Challenge and this one is pretty stinkin’ fun!!
It’s funky, right?!! Here’s my take on the inspiration photo:
Okay, so obviously I was inspired by the graphic lines of the dress. As I usually do, I tried to simplify the design, since all of the “activity” going on in that dress stressed me out just a little. Like it’s so intense, right?!! So I minimized it a bit, and this is what I came up with. I wanted to match the colors in the flair that I used (provided by our amazing sponsor Bossy Joscie), and I didn’t have the perfect matching cardstock. So I pulled a trick out of my hat, and used some of my Copic Markers to color up some white cardstock, and then die cut it using the same triangle background die that I used to die cut the front panel. Perfect! I’ve listed the products that I used below!
We’d love for you to play along with us!! Please click on through to the Runway Inspired Challenge Blog where you’ll find additional samples created by my other teammates to inspire you all! You’ll also find the rules and regulations of the challenge, as well as the linky tool to link up your take on the challenge! You have until Friday, April 17th to play along – and to win an amazing prize provided by our sponsor, Bossy Joscie! Can’t wait to see your amazing work in our gallery!!
Thanks for stopping by today! I’m headed to lunch with an old friend, and then back home to get caught up on some deadlines!! Have a great day!

Runway Inspired Challenge #66–Wishing You!
Well, hello!!
Long time, no blog! LOL Lots of busy-ness going on at the Loncon household, so I hope you all understand. But I have a project to share that was inspired by the latest Runway Inspired Challenge!
Isn’t that dress amazing?!! I so love the classic lines, with those gorgeous pops of color off that stylish navy blue. And then that graphic wood grain – be still my heart! Here’s my answer to the challenge!
That’s all for me today, friends! I’m hoping to get some crafty time in my stamp room as I have some Stretch Your Stamps homework that I need to catch up on! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Gallery Idol Round 3–Thank You!
Hello my lovelies!
Well, thanks to all of my awesome friends and family, I made it to the next round of the Gallery Idol contest!! My heart is beaming from all of the love and support you all have shown me . . . thank you so much! So let’s get on with Round 3, shall we?
Okay, so this round’s challenge was to create a stamped background. Easy peasy, right?! The truth is, I knew from the get go what I wanted to do. The Velveteen Stamping technique is perfect for creating a cool background! I learned about this technique from Shari Carroll – you can see her video on how to do it HERE. The Velveteen Stamping technique is an awesome way to add that extra WOW factor to one layer stamping.
Here’s a close-up of how this looks when finished. Basically, I stamped a houndstooth background onto a white panel using white pigment ink. Then I selected a variety of floral and leafy silhouette images, inked them up with various dye inks, and stamped them over the top of the pigment stamped background. As you stamp each image, blot with a clean paper towel or rag to remove the dye from the pigment ink. As you can see, the dye ink is “resisted” by the pigment ink, allowing the houndstooth pattern to pop through the solid silhouettes.
VELVETEEN STAMPING WITH A TWIST - I noticed when I was stamping that the dye ink was “pooling” on my clear stamps. It looked blotchy when I would stamp it. It was bugging me (don’t ask me how many versions of my final project I made – suffice it to say, I’m going to need to restock my cardstock supply! LOL) So I “swiped” the stamp pads across the silhouette images, creating a subtle “striation” pattern on the stamp, and evening out the ink. The striation pattern was transferred to the panel when stamped. I feel like that added a little extra “oomph” to the texture and design. I think I really like it!
So there ya go! That’s my entry for Round 3. I would be ever so grateful if you’d take a moment to vote – whether it’s for me or one of the other amazing designers that made it to the Top 15. All you have to do is register for an account HERE (it only takes a few seconds) and then vote (if you already registered last round, then all you have to do is vote!) That’s it! Thank you in advance – I am forever indebted to you all!
Have a great day. I’m off to hang out with my grandson, who is having a sleepover with Grandma and Grandpa tonight! Fun! Thanks for stopping by!

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #55–Put A Bling On It!
Hello again, friends!!
I know, I know . . . I’ve been MIA. But it’s totally for a good reason!! I’ve been enjoying spending time with our oldest grandson for the last several days – we took him back home this morning. Boy is it quiet around here today! LOL But I have every intention of getting into my craft room this weekend – so look out!!
I do have a project to share for this week’s CAS-ual Fridays Challenge, which is: Create a CLEAN AND SIMPLE project and include some kind of bling – rhinestones, glitter, stickles (whatever you have in your stash that sparkles!) – in your design. Super awesome (as my two year old grandson would say, with the cutest little lisp), right?!
As is always the case for the first challenge of every month, Simon Says Stamps is once again our sponsor extraordinaire – and if you’ve never shopped with them before, you really MUST do it sometime soon! Their customer service is outstanding, and they carry just about every kind of crafting NECESSITY known to man – NO JOKE!! Not only will this week’s TGIF Winner win a fabulous prize provided by Simon Says Stamps (you’ll have to click on over to the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge Blog to find out what it is, though), but he or she will also get to be our Guest Designer. Thank you Simon Says Stamps!
I have to confess that I kind of cheated on this one. I happened to have a publication reject that was just sitting on my desk, waiting to be shared, and low and behold it fit the challenge – BONUS!! LOL I used Geo-Graphic from Paper Smooches (designed by ME!) for the hexagon layer. I then adhered some Stampin’ Dimensionals (because they’re shaped PERFECTLY to fit inside the stamped hexagons) randomly and sprinkled three different colors of Doodlebug Sugar Coating Glitter. The sentiment is from Year Round Sentiments from Hero Arts.

Well, that’s it for me today, friends. I have a stampy friend coming over to crop with me today – perhaps I’ll actually get something done! Thanks so much for stopping by today. Before I go, I’d highly recommend that you click on through to the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge Blog, as the other Girl Fridays, including our Guest Designer for June – Piali Biswas – have some TERRIFIC goodies to share with you! Have a great weekend!
