CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #63–Color Challenge!

Ho-lee Smokes!!!

Where the heck did July go?!!  Seriously!!  I swear it was just the end of June, and now it’s almost August – for Pete’s sake!!  *sigh*  Well, I’m happy to report that we survived babysitting baby Brenner last week – by the end of the week, he was sleeping through the night.  YAY!!  Good job, Gramma and Grampa!!  LOL  He is such a sweet baby, and I miss him already.

CAS-ualFridaysNoWords

CFC63 - Youre So Special to Me
Over the past several months, I’ve been on a bit of a crafting binge.  For some odd reason, I am in love with this week’s color combination and realized a few nights ago that the majority of the projects that I’ve created over the last several weeks have been in this exact color scheme.  Can you say redundant?!!  LOL  So don’t be surprised when you start seeing a similar pattern on my blog in the next few weeks.  Sorry about that.  I won’t bore you with the blah, blah, blah of how I made this card.  But I will list the products used below.
PRODUCTS USED:
STAMPS:  Year Round Sentiments (Hero Arts)
INK:  Nautical Blue (Memento)
PAPER:  Sour Apple, Dragonfly, Typhoon and Lily White CS (Bazzill Basics Paper)
OTHER:  Circle Border Die (Simon Says Stamps/Memory Box)

Well, that’s it for me today, my peeps.  I’m still in the process of catching up with my life after last week’s babysitting gig.  I will have some very, very exciting news to share with you in a few days . . . any guesses as to what it might be?!!  Hehehehe  Have a great weekend, my sweet friends!!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!!

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #62–Back In Black!!

Hellooooo!!

Did you think I’d fallen off the face of the earth?!!  It’s been a very busy week here at our house.  We’ve been doing the Gramma and Grampa thing while our kids are camping.  OH EM GEE!!  It’s been fun, but very, very tiring!  Needless to say, there are a few things that are being neglected while we give our undivided attention to our infant grandson, and that’s just a-okay with me!!  How often will we get the chance to snuggle and smooch on that little bug without the interference of anyone else?  Not very often, right?!  So needless to say, my little bloggo has been very quiet.

CAS-ualFridaysNoWords

BUT I’m popping in between feedings to share this week’s CAS-ual Fridays Challenge, which is a super fun one!!  Your challenge is to:  Create a CLEAN & SIMPLE project to include a BLACK card base!  Black is such a dramatic color, and looks sooo cool combined with most colors, especially bright and bold colors!  Don’t you agree?!

Lil Inker Designs Graphic

Our out-of-this-world amazing sponsor this week is Lil Inker Designs – an online company that carries some of the CA-YUTEST dies and stamps that you ever did see!!  I happen to own the Rainbows and Clouds dies and stamps, and adore using them as often as I can.  Lil Inker Designs has also provided a fabulous prize for this week’s TGIF winner, but you’ll have to click on through to the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge Blog to see what it is!  Thank you, Lil Inker Designs!!

CFC62 - Let Your Light Shine

As soon as I saw this challenge, I knew what I wanted to do!  I adore stamping inside the negative of a die cut as a bold effect.  I’ve had this Chandeliers Hero Arts stamp and die set for quite a while, and knew that it would be perfect for this challenge!  I die cut the chandelier/bird image out of the card front, debossed the panel with a linen impression plate, threaded silver cording through the die cut negative, and stamped the sentiment in VersaMark and heat embossed it with silver embossing powder.  I then stamped the chandelier and bird on the black card base, through the die cut negative, using VersaMark, and then heat embossed them with turquoise and orange embossing powder.  I tied a turquoise ribbon at the bottom, added some bling to the chandelier lights, and then adhered the card front to the card base with foam tape.

PRODUCTS USED:

STAMPS:  Chandeliers (Hero Arts/Sizzix), Lighten Up Sentiments (PTI)
INK:  VersaMark (Tsukineko)
PAPER:  Black Licorice (French Poptone)
OTHER:  Chandelier Die (Hero Arts/Sizzix), Rhinestones (Stampin’ Up!), Apricot, Aqua and Silver Embossing Powder (Zing/American Crafts), Hawaiian Shores Ribbon (PTI), Linen Impression Plate (PTI), Silver Cord (A Muse Studio)

Well kids, it’s time to go feed or change or burp or play with or rock a very sweet little baby . . . catch ya on the flip side, peeps!!  Thanks so much for stopping by today!!  Have a great weekend!

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #61–Let’s Strip!!

Oh My!

CAS-ualFridaysNoWords

Are you blushing like I am?!  LOL  Well before you report me for being naughty, I’ll let you know that this week’s CAS-ual Fridays Challenge does not involve anyone taking their clothes off, especially me!!  But it DOES involve creating a CLEAN & SIMPLE design and use strips in your design – strips of paper, strips of ribbon, strips of washi tape – whatever strikes your fancy!  Fun, right?!

Freckled Fawn Graphic

This week’s uber fabulous sponsor is Freckled Fawn – the online purveyor of an enormous selection of washi tape, doilies, lace, ribbons, labels, etc.  Like tons of amazingly fun stuff!!  Freckled Fawn has also provided a fabulous prize for this week’s TGIF Winner, but you’ll have to click on through to the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge Blog to see what it is!  Thank you, Freckled Fawn!

CFC61 - Red White & Blue Friend

I designed my card for this challenge a few weeks back, and sort of miscalculated the timing.  I thought it was going to be a little closer to the Fourth of July than it actually was.  Sorry about that!  But this could be recreated in a different color scheme and be a super fun congratulations or celebrate card, don’t you think?  And who doesn’t need a true blue friend any day of the week?  That’s my story, and I’m stickin’ to it!  LOL  I die cut the stars several times, and layered them on top of each other to create a chipboard of sorts.  I then adhered the strips of washi tape on the card base and stamped the sentiment.  Then I adhered the stars to the card front with foam tape, and layered the washi tape on the stars, making sure to match the patterns already on the card base.  Isn’t it a fun effect?  This would be so fun to do with other die cut shapes – like hearts, or circles or hexagons – ohhhhh!!  I’m so gonna try this with hexagons!!

PRODUCTS USED:

STAMPS:  Let Freedom Ring (PTI)
INK:  Cobalt (A Muse Studio)
PAPER:  Solar White CS (Neenah Classic Crest)
OTHER:
Red & White Stripe and Blue & White Stars Washi Tape (Freckled Fawn), Stars Dies (Clear & Simple Stamps), Gems (Doodlebug Designs)

Well, that’s it for me today, kids!!  We have a huge family celebration in the works this weekend – my dad turns 75 on Sunday!!  That’s huge, right?!!  So we’ve planned a big family dinner for that very special occasion.  It should be loads of fun!!  Oh, and we finally got summer here in Washington – WOOHOO!!  Hope you have some equally special plans for your weekend!  Thanks so much for stopping by!!

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #60–Text Me!

Happy post-4th of July!!  How were your Fourth festivities?!  Ours were extremely quiet because we were babysitting our two cutie patootie grandsons so that mom and dad could have a night off.  There were certainly years where we partied with the best of ‘em, but we’re kinda grateful for quieter holidays these days.  I guess we’re getting OLD!  LOL

CAS-ualFridaysNoWords

So let’s get down to the reason why you’re popping in today – the latest CAS-ual Fridays Challenge, which is to create a CLEAN & SIMPLE project and include TEXT in your design.

SimonSaysStamps

Because it’s the first challenge of the month, we are once again looking for a Guest Designer (this week’s TGIF Winner), which also means that Simon Says Stamps is our sponsor extraordinaire – LOVE THEM!!  Simon Says Stamps has provided a fabulous prize for this week’s TGIF Winner, but you’ll have to click on through to the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge Blog to find out what it is.  Thank you, Simon Says Stamps!!

CFC60 - You Are Invited

Here’s my answer to the challenge.  Now, you’re probably asking yourself, “Hmmm . . .where IS the text in your project, Karolyn?”  Right?!!  Well, if you look verrrrryyyyyy closely, you’ll see that I embossed the card front with the Book Print Impression Plate.  So my text is there – it’s just very subtle.  Fun, right?  I stamped the row of books (this stamp was given to me by a super sweet lady when I saw it used on Cristina Kowalcyk’s Gallery Idol project from last year – thank you Tonya!!) three times at the bottom of the card front in some really fun colors, and then stamped and die cut the sentiment banner.  This would be a fun Book Club invite, right?!  I don’t belong to a book club, but I’m just sayin’ . . . LOL

PRODUCTS USED:

STAMPS:  Book Border (Studio Calico), Table Service (PTI)
INK:  Pear Tart and Grape Jelly (Memento), Black and Splash (Hero Arts/Memories)
PAPER:  Solar White CS (Neenah Classic Crest)
OTHER:  Fishtail Flag Stax Dies (My Favorite Things), Book Print Impression Plate (PTI)

Well, I’m in the midst of creating some projects for a publication call (with a Monday deadline), so I won’t be able to share them with you until they are REJECTED!!  LOL But as soon as they are (hopefully they won’t be Winking smile), I’ll for sure share with you!  Until then, thanks so much for stopping by today.  Have a great weekend!!
