Hope you had a wonderful weekend. We had some very dear friends over for dinner on Saturday – a final celebration before they move back to New Orleans. It was a bittersweet celebration, as I’ll be losing my best friend. No, really – my very best friend in the entire world. I’ll miss her desperately, but we’ve promised to talk often, and see each other as often as is possible (but there will have to be a HUGE incentive for me to ever visit New Orleans again – suffice it to say, we had a very bad experience there once, many moons ago. ;-)). Dinner was great, the company amazing, and the goodbyes difficult. I’ll still have a few weeks before I really have to say goodbye, but I know that day will come way too soon. Ugh! Can’t think about that now.
On to brighter subjects (thank you for indulging me, by the way). The ABC Toys & Crafts DT is hosting a challenge over at the ABC Toys & Crafts Design Blog. The theme this month is “Back to School.” I love this time of year. Both of my girls are done with the school thing. In fact, my youngest will be student teaching middle school English this year, and will hopefully become a teacher very soon. She’s got an amazing gift that I know she’ll share willingly with the students that she comes in contact with – we’re very proud of the beautiful young woman that she’s become. But I digress . . . BACK TO SCHOOL!! Love the smell of brand new Crayola crayons, freshly sharpened pencils, and the feel of crisp new Pee Chees. Remember those days?
Here’s my project for the challenge. First, I made a card using a Hero Arts Clear Stamp Set that I hadn’t inked up before today called “Just A Note.” I knew it would be perfect for the Back to School Theme, with the cute notebook paper and ruler images. The apple die cut was created using my Pink Slice and the Fall Back to School Design Card (ALL SLICE PRODUCTS ARE ON SALE FOR 15% OFF UNTIL 8/31/10).
Check out that cute library pocket – perfect for attaching a Starbucks gift card, or even an office supply gift card. What teacher doesn’t need coffee or office supplies?!! LOL
I also created an altered clothespin that I thought would be cute for a teacher’s desk to hold notes or reminders. The apple die cut is the same as on the card – just cut out in green paper instead of red. I just happened to pick up the little note pad at my LSS, so I thought I’d throw that into the mix, too.
STAMPS: Just A Note Clear Stamps (Hero Arts), Fresh Alphabet (Papertrey Ink), School Time (Papertrey Ink)
INK: Rich Cocoa and Summer Sky Ink (Memento)
PAPER: Vintage Cream CS (Papertrey Ink), Report Card DP (October Afternoon), 2008 and 2009 Bitty Dots DP (Papertrey Ink)
ACCESSORIES: Fall Back to School Design Card (Making Memories), Pink Slice (Making Memories), Slice Hands Free Kit Pink (Making Memories), 3D-Dots (EK Success), Library Card (Maya Road), Stitched Ribbon (Papertrey Ink), Buttons (Papertrey Ink), Baker’s Twine (Devine Twine), Glue Dots, Notebook Edge Punch (EK Success), Clothespin, Elmer’s Spray Adhesive

That is a really cute card Karolyn, just shrieks back to school. I understand what you mean . . . my best friend moved to Canada last week. All three older kids moved to their colleges . . . four people sort of disappeared in one week, it was tough. Thank goodness for paper and ink! Big hugs.
This absolutely ADORABLE, makes me wish I had kids back in school...NOT! What lucky teacher wouldn't want to receive this cute set!? Love it!!
This is super cute! Thank you so much for the welcome back. I've really missed cruising around visiting everyone and seeing what they are up to, especially you Chicca.
