Online Card Class: Water Color for Card Makers–First Assignment!

I’m baaacckkkk!  LOL

OCC Water Color Really Big Hugs

Popping in quickly to share the project that I made for my first assignment for the upcoming Online Card Class: Water Color for Card Makers!  I am so beyond excited for this class!  I adore the water color look on cards, and I’ve been having some fun familiarizing myself with some of the new products that I’ve purchased in anticipation of this class!!  Our first assignment was to “swatch” our water colors, and then create a plaid panel and turn it into a card.  So I swatched my Peerless Water Color Papers (love, love, love the vibrancy and ease with which these water colors work! *swoon*) and choose a few of my favorites to create my plaid panel.

When I created the plaid, I used pretty vibrant colors.  I didn’t follow Kristina’s advice to leave lots of white space – probably to my detriment.  The end result of my plaid panel was that it was pretty bold – it kinda hurt my eyes as a large piece of paper.  But I hoped that if I cut it down to a sentiment size, it might be kind of fun.  I think I succeeded in capturing the essence of the assignment in a clean and simple way.  I like it . . . I really, really like it.

My grandmother was a water color artist.  I have many of her pieces of art in my home, and treasure them with all of my heart.  She was the sweetest lady on the face of the earth, and I miss her desperately.  So when this Online Card Class: Water Color For Card Makers came up, I signed up lickity split!  There’s a little part of me that’s hoping I have just a smidge of her water coloring talent.  I guess we shall see!  I can’t WAIT for class to begin – is it May 5th yet?! LOL  If you’re interested in exploring the ways that you can incorporate the water color trend into your card making, you totally need to sign up!  Come and play with me!

Okay, I’m done for the night.  I’m nursing a bit of a headache, and I have a big day tomorrow.  So I think I’ll turn in.  Thanks again for stopping by tonight!  I really appreciate it!

ETA:  I'm also linking this up to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Clean & Simple.
