Happy Wednesday, sweet peeps!!
I’m popping in quickly to share another project that I created using some super fun My Favorite Things products. Actually, this was created for a magazine assignment, but it wasn’t used. Bummer! LOL But it’s also a great demonstration of ways to “stretch” those dies that you have in your stash!! Check it!
Okay, so this project features the Picnic Basket Die-Namics. What?! You don’t see a picnic basket? Ha!! That’s the point!! I used the Picnic Basket Die-Namic to create a flower pot!! Here’s how I did it:
- Trim an A2 top-fold cardbase from Smooth White Cardstock; score at 5.5” and perfect crease using teflon bone folder.
- Die cut image panel from Smooth White Cardstock, using the stitched rectangle from Blueprints 24 Die-Namics.
- Stamp sentiment from Totally Happy Stamp Set using Black Licorice Pigment Ink; heat emboss with clear embossing powder.
- Die cut circle from some Smooth White Cardstock using the Stitched Circle Frames Die-Namics; adhere it to the image panel with adhesive.
- Die cut daisy from Ripe Raspberry and Lemon Drop Cardstock using the Gerbera Daisy Die-Namics. Assemble bloom with adhesive, and “fluff” petals for added dimension. Die cut flower stem from Limelight Cardstock using the Circle Scribble Flowers Die-Namics. Adhere stem and flower to the image panel with adhesive.
- HOW TO MAKE THE FLOWER POT: Die cut Picnic Basket Die-Namic from black and white polka dot patterned paper; reposition the die on the die cut so that it cuts the right side and reduces the original die cut to the proportionate size of a flower pot.
- Cover the flower pot with VersaMark ink and heat emboss with clear embossing powder. Repeat this process three times, to give the flower pot some gloss.
- Adhere the flower pot to the image panel with adhesive foam squares.
- Die cut bow from Limelight Cardstock using the Beautiful Bows Die-Namics; assemble the bow with double-sided adhesive tape and adhere to the flower pot with strong adhesive.
How fun is that?!! I’m always looking for ways to stretch the uses of my dies! I like to look at a die and then try to imagine it as other things. My favorite way to stretch my dies is to make an image smaller. In this case, I took the full sized Picnic Basket, die cut it in full form, and then slid that die cut back into the die, adjusting it to make the die cut smaller and running it through my die cut machine again. So it went from a picnic basket to a flower pot! It’s hard to see in the photo, but I also coated the polka dot pot with VersaMark Ink and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I repeated this three times – which gave it the appearance that it’s a glossy polka dot flower pot! I hope this inspires you to look at your die stash and find new ways to “stretch” them!! I’ve listed the My Favorite Things products that I used below.
That’s it for me today, friends!! My daughter and son-in-law are still here so we’ll be floating on our floaties in the pool and having some fun in the sun!! Hope you have some awesome plans for your day!! Thanks so much for stopping by!
