Hello, sweet friends!!
We are enjoying some amazing summer weather here in Seattle, which is kind of weird for June. Summer doesn’t usually show up here until July! LOL It’s been especially nice because we’re babysitting our grandsons, so the weather has been great to get outside and do stuff – thank you Weather Gods!!
I thought I’d pop in and share a card that I created that was inspired by a video that the amazing Jennifer McGuire posted on her blog the other day. You can find it HERE. When I watched the video, I knew that her shadow stamping technique would work amazingly on the Watercolor Flowers Stamp Set. Plus it was a great opportunity to use my Misti – that amazing stamping tool that I never use enough!! For me, the multi-step stamps are intimidating. But after watching Jennifer’s video, I decided to jump right in and I’m happy to report that it was a BREEZE with the Misti Stamping Tool!! Here’s what I did!
- Trim an A2 top-folding card base from Smooth White Cardstock; score at 5.5”, fold and perfect crease with teflon bone folder.
- Trim an A2 image panel from Blu Raspberry Cardstock.
- Place the image panel into the Misti Stamping Tool and use the magnets to hold it in place. Arrange the first layer of stamps from Watercolor Flowers in the bottom right corner of the image panel – close the Misti door to grip stamps. Open the Misti door, ink stamps with Sweet Tooth Pigment Ink and close the Misti door to stamp onto the image panel.
- Remove the image panel from the Misti tool and flip it so that the stamped area on the bottom is now on the top. Re-ink the stamps with Sweet Tooth Pigment Ink and close the Misti door to stamp onto the image panel.
- Arrange the second layer of stamps onto the image panel, and repeat steps 3 and 4, this time using Blu Raspberry Hybrid Ink.
- Arrange the third layer of stamps onto the image panel, and repeat steps 3 and 4, again using Blu Raspberry Hybrid Ink.
- Heat set the images with a heat embossing gun. Using an Embossing Powder Tool, prepare the area for the stamped sentiment.
- Ink up the sentiment from the True Friend Stamp Set with VersaMark and stamp onto the image panel. Heat emboss with White Embossing Powder.
- Using the Stitched Rectangle from Blueprints 15 Die-Namics, die cut the image panel.
- Adhere the image panel to the card base with foam tape.
- Accent the flowers and leaves with dots using a white gel pen.
There ya have it! My card is pretty much a CASE of Jennifer’s cards, but I just couldn’t help myself. Hers are so beautiful and I had to give this technique a try!! I’m so glad I did, and will most definitely be doing this again! I’ve listed the products that I used below.
Thanks so much for stopping by!! Today is the last day of babysitting! As much as I love my grandkids, I also love my sleep. I can’t wait to sleep in past 6:20 AM! I know, I know . . . I’m a weenie! I’m retired!! LOL
