My Favorite Things–August Card Kit Day 2–Sensational Stitched Flowers!

Hello friends!

MFT_SensationalStitchedFlowers_BlogHeader

I’m popping in today to share a project that I created using the My Favorite Things August Card Kit – Sensational Stitched Flowers.  My teammates and I are sharing projects today pairing items from the Card Kit with other current MFT product – “out of the box.”  The Card Kit will be available for sale in the MFT Online Boutique on August 23rd at 10:00 PM EDT!  Here’s my “out of the box” take on the kit!

Okay, so the stitched detail in these flowers and leaves is amazing!  Honestly they stand on their own without much more!  But I thought it’d be fun to do a bit of ink blending to add some extra pizzazz!  I paired those awesome flowers with a word die cut that y’all be getting for FREE when you purchase the new kit!!  BONUS!!  Here’s how I created my project:

  1. Trim an A2, vertical, top-folding card base from Smooth White Card Stock. Score at 5.5”, fold in half, and perfect the crease with a Teflon Bone Folder.
  2. Trim a 1.5” x 5.5” strip of black and white striped pattern paper from the Rainbow Stripes 6 x 6 Paper PadAdhere it to the card base.
  3. Die cut an image strip from Smooth White Card Stock using the stitched rectangle die contained in the Blueprints 23 Die-Namics.  Adhere it to the card base with foam tape.
  4. Trim an A2 panel from Smooth White Card Stock.  Blend some Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed and Peacock Feathers Distress inks onto the panel using a Mini Ink Blending Tool.  Use the Sensational Stitched Flowers dies to die cut several of the flowers, centers and leaves.  Assemble the flowers and leaves, and adhere them to the image panel using foam tape.  Adhere black enamel dots to the centers of the flowers.
  5. Die cut the word “thanks” four times from Black Licorice Card Stock using the Thanks Die-Namics (free die with purchase of Kit!).  Adhere the layers together with Matte Medium.  Adhere the layered die cut to the image panel using foam tape and more Matte Medium.  Apply a coat of Clear Wink of Stella, and then a coat of Glossy Accents – allow to fully dry.
  6. Arrange and adhere some Sparkling Clear Sequins to the image panel using Matte Medium.

There you go – super easy, fast and packs a bold punch with those vibrant flowers against the white background!  I’m pretty much in love with those flowers!!  I’ve listed the products that I used below.  Please click on through to the My Favorite Things Design Blog to be linked to the other “out of the box” designs that my fellow teammates have created for your inspiration!  I know you’re going to be amazed!

That’s it for me today, friends!!  I’ll be back tomorrow with another project featuring the Sensational Stitched Flowers Card Kit!!  Until then, thanks so much for stopping by today – I am ever so grateful when you do!!  Have a great day!

I think this card looks very elegant! The white with the black and white striped edge and the beautiful contrasting flowers! The black sentiment kicks it up a notch!
