My Favorite Things–WSC#300!

Hello my friends!!

MFT_SketchChallenge_SideBar

I know it’s been quiet around here this week . . . I’m treading water like nobody’s business.  Counting down the hours before we leave for AZ, and busting booty to get it all done!!  But I wanted to pop in quickly to share a project I created for this week’s My Favorite Things WSC#300!!  Here’s the sketch:

And here’s my take on the sketch!!

I know . . . I’ve taken a bit of creative license with the sketch.  But my intent was there – I just couldn’t take that Stitched Fishtail Flag all the way to the edge!!  It was killing me!!  LOL  I get credit for intent, right?!  LOL  Here’s how I created my project:

  1. Trim an A2, vertical, top-folding card base from Black Licorice Card StockScore at 5.5”, fold in half and perfect the crease with a Teflon Bone Folder.
  2. Trim an A2 panel from Smooth White Card StockStamp the Typewriter Background onto the image panel using Sweet Tooth Pigment Ink.  Heat emboss it with White Detail Embossing Powder.
  3. Die cut the image panel using the stitched rectangle from the Blueprints 15 Die-Namics Set.
  4. Using a Mini Ink Blending Tool, lightly blend some Spun Sugar Distress Ink in the lower right hand corner of the image panel.
  5. Wrap the image panel with red and white baker’s twine and tie it into a bow.  Adhere the image panel to the card base with foam tape.
  6. Die cut black and white polka dot patterned paper (from the Itsy Bitsy Polka Dot 6 x 6 Paper Pack) using the Stitched Fishtail Frames.
  7. Stamp the sentiment from the Fall Friends Stamp Set onto the vellum using Onyx Black VersaFine Ink, and heat emboss it with Clear Detail Embossing Powder.  Adhere the vellum panel inside the polka dot frame using Clear Foam Tape.
  8. Stamp the apple image from the Fall Friends Stamp Set TWICE onto some Smooth White Card Stock using Black Licorice Hybrid Ink.  Use the coordinating Fall Friends Die-Namics to die cut one of the stamped apples.  Fussy cut the center of the apple from the die cut with detail scissors.
  9. Stamp the apple a third time onto red and white gingham patterned paper (from the Tiny Check Brights 6 x 6 Paper Pack) with Black Licorice Hybrid Ink, and fussy cut around the outside of the apple.  Adhere it to the die cut apple with a tape runner.
  10. Stamp the apple a fourth time onto green and white polka dot patterned paper (from the Itsy Bitsy Polka Dot 6 x 6 Paper Pack) with Black Licorice Hybrid Ink, and fussy cut the leaf.  Adhere it to the die cut apple with a tape runner.
  11. Adhere the fussy cut apple center (from the second die cut) to the apple using foam tape.  Color the stem with a Copic Marker.  Apply Glossy Accents to the seeds.

There you go!!  If I had all the time in the world, I’d make a whole set of these babies and give them to a teacher friend of mine . . . no doubt she’d be able to use them.  Or better yet – give them to my daughter to give to my grandson’s teacher!!  Maybe when my life slows down . . . Ha!  I’ve listed all the products that I used below if you’d like to make some cards like this for yourself!

Please click on through to the My Favorite Things Challenge Blog to see the other creative takes on this week’s sketch challenge!  I know you’re going to be amazed!!  And we’d love to have you play along with us -  you’ll find the linky tool to link up your take on the sketch!  Do it!

That’s it for me today, friends!!  If you need me, I’ll be in my craft room – packing my crap!!  LOL  I’ll be back soon to share another crafty project with you – I promise!  Thanks for stopping by!!

Polkie dots, twine and gingham paper! Throw in a sweet apple and a subtle sponged panel and you have one heck of an awesome card! Love it!
