Hello stampy friends!

Just dropping in quickly to share a project that I made for the current Mama Elephant challenge.  The prize is a spot on their challenge team!  Since I’m a huge fan of Mama Elephant products (and their sweet owners *wink*), I decided to play along!

Mama Elephant Challenge

So, I’ve been playing with my new watercolors in anticipation of the Online Card Class: Watercolor for Card Makers that starts on Monday morning.  To say that I am excited for this class to start is an understatement!  I thought that the challenge inspiration photo had sort of a dreamy, watercolor look to it, so that made me happy!  First I stamped the main doily image from the Filigree stamp set in VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.  I stamped it onto watercolor paper, on the textured side, so it didn’t emboss as perfectly as I would have liked, but I feel like it gives it a bit of a “rustic” look.  That’s what I was going for . . . LOL.  Then I gave the paper a spritz of water to gently wet the panel.  I mixed up some water colors in a pretty light turquoise and a bright yellow.  I washed the two colors over the panel, overlapping the two colors a bit in the middle, and then allowed the whole panel to thoroughly dry.  Once it was dry, I die cut the Hello Script die from the center of the panel and set those pieces aside.  I die cut it again four more times from white card stock, and glued all of the layers together to create the dimensional die cut.  The last layer that I glued was the layer from the water colored panel.  I trimmed off the left edge of the water colored panel, and adhered it to a white card base.  I then glued down the layered die cut into the opening, making sure to also adhere the inside pieces of the word.  Then I die cut some Confetti from the strip that I had trimmed off previously, adhered them to the panel, and sprinkled them with some glitter.

Well, that’s it for me kids!  I think there’s still a day or two to play along with the challenge if you’re interested.  You can find the details here.   Thanks for stopping by!

Terrific card based on the inspiration photo! Like the inking and how you represented the white/clear. :)

Gorgeous! The colors and the doily create such a pretty vintage look! Love how you diecut the sentiment from the same color washed panel and then matched it up to the colors on the paper! Brilliant idea! Fabulous bits of 'confetti' :)
