Well, hello!!
This is going to be another one of those “drive by” blog posts. We are in Portland, Oregon visiting our youngest daughter and son-in-law at the moment, so there’s not a lot of time to chat today! But I wanted to pop in quickly to share the next Runway Inspired Challenge!
There are so many things that are inspiring about this dress! I love the soft pleats, and the lovely and subtle color palette, as well as the gorgeous contrast from the black lace insert. Here’s what I created for the challenge:
I chose to go somewhat clean and simple, and try a new-to-me watercolor technique. It’s called the Whitewash Watercolor Technique, and it’s demonstrated beautifully HERE. Basically, you heat emboss the lined image with white embossing powder, then paint the inside of the image with a water brush and white pigment ink. Once that’s dry (I heat set mine with my heat gun), use the water brush and the dye reinkers to watercolor the images. This is such a FUN technique and one I’ll use again! It’s great because you can get that “watercolor look” on colored cardstock because the white pigment reinker acts as a foundation for the water and dye reinker – it doesn’t soak into the cardstock and get lost! Oh, and I also noticed that the cardstock did NOT buckle, bend or pill as I thought it would. So fun!! I stamped the lacy circle image three times consecutively to create a scalloped border, and then trimmed it out with my scissors. I’ve listed the products that I used below. Oh, and I was inspired by THIS card that I loved by Shari Carroll.
Please click on through to the Runway Inspired Challenge Blog to see the winner’s from the last Challenge. There are some GORGEOUS samples from my other sweet teammates there to inspire you all, as well as the InLinkz linky tool for you to link up YOUR answer to the Challenge – we’d love to have you play along!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! It truly means the world to me!
