Well, hello again!!
It’s Countdown Day 2 for the My Favorite Things Jungle Friends Card Kit! Only one more sleep until this amazing kit is available for sale!! This kit is chock-a-block full of genius tools to create super fun interactive cards that will blow your friends away!! My project features a few other MFT products not included in the kit so you can see how the kit works with other products that you might already have on hand (hence the “out of the box” indicator)! Here’s one view of my project!
And here’s how it looks using the slider feature of the kit:
Oh-My-Lanta!! Is that not so stinkin’ cute and fun?!! I mean, COME ON!! Who doesn’t love an interactive card?!! This card involves a lot of die cutting, so be prepared for building your die cutting muscles!!! Here’s how I created my project:
- Die cut the following items using the Jungle Friends Die-Namics (unless otherwise noted):
(a) Two giraffes from the orange patterned paper included in the Fun & Frolic 6 x 6 Paper Pad;
(b) Two giraffes from Smooth White Card Stock;
(c) One giraffe from Black Licorice Card Stock (not included in the kit) for his eyes.
(d) Two giraffe manes from Persimmon Card Stock.
(e) Two grassy patches from the green polka dot patterned paper included in the Fun & Frolic 6 x 6 Paper Pad;(f) Two grassy patches from Smooth White Card Stock;
(g) Two spinner circles from Smooth White Card Stock;
(h) Two image panels, one from Smooth White Card Stock and one from the blue striped patterned paper from the Fun & Frolic 6 x 6 Paper Pad using the Wonky Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics (not included in the kit);
(i) Four clouds from Smooth White Card Stock using the In the Clouds Die-Namics (not included in the kit);
(j) One arrow from Clear Acetate Card Stock (not included in the kit) using the arrow die contained in the Blueprints 7 Die-Namics Set (not included in the kit) - Trim an A2, vertical top-folding card base from Sweet Tooth Card Stock (not included in the kit). Score at 4.25”, fold in half and perfect crease with a Teflon Bone Folder.
- Trim an A2 piece of the blue striped pattern paper from the Fun & Frolic 6 x 6 Paper Pad; adhere it to the card base.
- Using the straight spinner groove die from the Surf & Turf Die-Namics, die cut a slot out of the image panel.
- Stamp the sentiment from the Jungle Friends Stamp Set onto the image panel using VersaMark (not included in the kit) and heat emboss it with White Detail Embossing Powder (not included in the kit).
- Adhere one of the slider discs from the kit to the back of one of the spinner circle die cuts using Glossy Accents (not included in the kit). Allow it to dry a few minutes and then adhere the other spinner circle die cut with more Glossy Accents so that the slider disc is sandwiched between the two circles.
- Adhere the clear arrow die cut to the back of the first giraffe die cut with Glossy Accents. Allow it to fully dry. Adhere the assembled spinner mechanism to the back of the giraffe’s head with more Glossy Accents.
- Position and adhere the second giraffe die cut to the image panel using foam tape (not included in the kit), making sure to align the giraffe’s head and neck beneath the bottom of the slider groove cut out.
- Adhere the grassy patches to the image panel using foam tape. Adhere three of the cloud die cuts to the image panel to cover up the bottom of the slider groove cut out.
- Slide the giraffe die cut (with the spinner mechanism and arrow attached) through the back of the slider groove cut out so that the spinner mechanism slips in and glides between the two slides of the slider groove cut out. The back of the second giraffe die cut should be hiding behind the image panel and the neck of the giraffe should slide up and down on the front of the image panel when you lift the attached arrow. Push the giraffe slider all the way down so that it aligns with the other giraffe. Adhere the fourth cloud to the image panel with foam tape to cover up the giraffe’s head.
- Adhere the assembled image panel to the card base with foam tape.
TIPS: First, I cut off the head of the front giraffe just above the bottom edge of the cloud to remove some of the bulk behind the cloud. Second, I cut off the slider giraffe at the bottom of his neck, again to remove some of the bulk and allow his head to slide up and down easier. Lastly, I die cut the parts of the card that were part of the slider process both from the patterned paper as well as card stock and adhered them together in an effort to stabilize everything. There's a how-to video posted for your viewing pleasure on the My Favorite Things Design Blog! This will give you a visual look at how all the parts of the kit work together!
There you go!! This really is easier than it looks – it just involves a little bit of die cutting labor and patience in assembling! But honestly, every bit of effort towards creating this card will be appreciated by the recipient as it will truly knock their socks off!! I’ve listed all of the products that I used below.
Please click on through to the My Favorite Things Design Blog to be linked to the other incredible projects that my brilliant teammates have created for your “out of the box” Jungle Friends Card Kit inspiration! I know you’ll be amazed!!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Stay tuned and come back again soon for more Jungle Friends Card Kit deliciousness!! TTFN!!
NOTE: The Jungle Friends Card Kit will not be live and available for sale until the release on April 19th at 10:00 PM EDT!
