It’s time, my lovlies!!
The November My Favorite Things Card Kit – Kitschy Kitchen – is available NOW!! So please click on through to the My Favorite Things Boutique to add it to your cart, and then come back to see my project! I’ll wait . . . .
Okay! I’m so glad you came back to see the project that I have to share with you! It’s another “outside the box” take on the kit. I loves me some puns, and this Kitschy Kitchen Card Kit is overflowing with awesome retro kitchen images and punny sentiments – the whole thing just makes me happy! I paired the bananas and the banana stand from the Kitschy Kitchen Card Kit with the Cheeky Monkey Stamp Set and the Thanks Die-Namics!! Here’s how I created my project!
- Trim an A2, horizontal top folding card base from Smooth White Card Stock. Score at 4.25”, fold in half and perfect the crease with a Teflon Bone Folder.
- Mask off 1/2” at the bottom of the card base using some Post-It Tape. Apply a light blend of Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink above the masked off area with a Mini Ink Blending Tool. Remove the Post-It Tape and re-adhere it to the card base on top of the previously blended area. Apply a light blend of Pumice Stone Distress Ink to the lower left edge of the card base using a Mini Ink Blending Tool. Remove the mask.
- Trim an A2 image panel from Smooth White Card Stock. Cut an aperture from the left bottom edge of the panel using the Jumbo Peek-a-Boo Circle Windows Die-Namics.
- Die cut the banana stand from Brushed Silver Card Stock using the Kitschy Kitchen Die-Namics.
- Stamp the bananas from the Kitschy Kitchen Stamp Set onto some Smooth White Card Stock using Daffodil Dye Ink (contained in the Kit). Stamp the stems and trunk of the bananas using Black Licorice Hybrid Ink. Use the coordinating Kitschy Kitchen Die-Namics to die-cut the bananas.
- Die cut the “thanks” word once from Black Licorice Card Stock, and three times from Smooth White Card Stock, using the Thanks Die-Namics. Adhere the layers together with Multi Medium Matte adhesive, making sure to place the black die cut on top.
- Stamp the sentiment from the Cheeky Monkey Stamp Set (I performed a bit of stamp surgery to remove the word “Thanks” and just used the “A Bunch” portion of the stamp) onto the image panel.
- Wrap black and white baker’s twine around the top portion of the image panel, and tie it into a bow. Adhere the image panel to the card base with foam tape.
- Adhere the banana stand and banana die cuts to the card base, inside the ink blended aperture, using foam tape.
- Adhere the stacked thanks word die cut to the image panel using Multi Medium Matte adhesive.
There are a few steps involved, but honestly this project was super easy to put together! I’m kinda loving the fun retro vibe that it throws off! Please click on through to the My Favorite Things Design Blog to be linked to the other Kitschy Kitchen Card Kit projects that my teammates have created for you!
