My Favorite Things–All Smiles Card Kit Countdown Day 2!

Hello again!

SensationalStitchedFlowers_KitPeek

We’re getting closer to the release of the My Favorite Things All Smiles Card Kit Release!! Today is Countdown Day 2, and I have another fun project to share with you!  When I saw this kit, I started brainstorming ideas for solid stamp images.  One of my all time fave techniques to use with solid images is the Velveteen Stamping Technique.  I saw Shari Carroll do this at a wholesale show once, and I was amazed!

KKL_JUL2417-Card-Kit-Day-2

I stamped the Split Triangle Background using White Pigment Ink, and then stamped the floral images on top, using dye inks!  The white ink slightly resists the dye ink, so the pattern pops through the solid images – it’s so much fun to do!  Here’s how I created my card!

  1. Trim a 4.25” x 11” card base from Smooth White Card StockScore at 5.5”, fold in half, and perfect the crease with a Teflon Bone Folder.
  2. Trim an A2 panel of Smooth White Card Stock. Stamp the Split Triangle Background onto the image panel using Sweet Tooth Pigment Ink.  Allow to dry, or heat set if you’re in a hurry.
  3. Stamp the floral images from the Plentiful Petals Stamp Set (included in the All Smiles Card Kit) over the top of the pigment ink, making sure to clean your image after each impression.  I used Limelight Dye Ink, Summer Splash Dye Ink, Razzle Berry Dye Ink, Orange Zest Dye Ink, and Sunshine Dye Ink to create my floral pattern. I also lightly dabbed a dry rag after each impression to help the ink absorb into the panel and make that white ink pop.
  4. I die cut the outside edge of the image panel using the stitched rectangle die from the Blueprints 24 Die-Namics.
  5. I die cut the Double the Smiles Die-Namic (included in the All Smiles Card Kit) into the image panel, and then die cut it three more times from Black Licorice Card Stock.  I adhered the black die cuts together with Multi Medium Matte and adhered the stamped layer on top.  I placed a piece of tape behind the image panel, at the sentiment opening.  I then adhered the letters back into place with more Multi Medium Matte.
  6. I adhered the image panel to the card base with foam squares.
  7. I stamped the sentiment from the All Smiles Stamp Set onto some Black Licorice Card Stock using Sweet Tooth Pigment Ink.  I heat embossed it with White Embossing Powder, and die cut it using the Slanted Sentiment Strips Die-Namics (the new Free with $60 Purchase die).  I adhered the sentiment strip to the image panel with foam squares.
  8. Lastly, I adhered some Clear Droplets to the image panel with more Multi Medium Matte.

So what do you think?!! Seriously, the Velveteen Stamping technique could be used with just about any solid image, and of course all of the amazing backgrounds that MFT carries make the possibilities endless!  I’ve linked and listed all of the products that I used below.
