My Favorite Things–WSC342!

Hello, again!!
MFT_SketchChallenge_SideBar
I’m playing along with this week’s My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge!  It’s a super fun sketch, and I had a great time creating with it!

This is actually a different version of another project that I created for the My Favorite Things Retreat that I was fortunate enough to teach at last month!  I actually ran out of time to share this project with the students, but I revised the original a bit to fit this week’s sketch!  Here’s how I created it:
  1. Trim an A2, vertical, top-folding card base from Smooth White Card StockScore at 5.5”, fold in half, and perfect the crease with a Teflon Bone Folder.
  2. Mask off the top and bottom of the card base with a low-tack masking material (I used 2” Post-It Tape from my stash) and blend some Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed, and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks, overlapping them slightly to create a rainbow effect.  Carefully remove the masking tape.
  3. Die cut an image panel from Smooth White Card Stock using the rectangle die from the Blueprints 16 Die-Namics.
  4. Using a Mini MISTI, stamp the butterfly image from the Beautiful Butterflies Stamp Set onto the card base using Black Licorice Hybrid Ink.  Without removing the butterfly stamp, remove the card base, and stamp the butterfly onto the image panel in the exact same position as on the card base.  Repeat this process a second time with another butterfly image, first on the card base, and then again on the image panel.  Stamp the sentiment from the You Give Me Butterflies Stamp Set onto the image panel, in the lower left hand corner.
  5. Dry emboss the butterfly image using the coordinating Beautiful Butterflies Die-Namics and an Embossing Pad with a manual die cutting machine, both on the image panel, as well as on the card base.
  6. Using the Stitched Basic Edges 2 Die-Namics, die cut the bottom portion of the image panel; using the Stitched Scallop Basic Edges Die-Namics, die cut the upper portion of the image panel.
  7. Adhere the upper and lower portions of the image panel to the card base using foam squares, making sure to align the embossed image on the bottom.
  8. Adhere some black enamel dots.
This is a really fun technique that adds some great dimension and interest to a super fun sketch!  I’ve listed and linked all of the products that I used below.  Please click on through to the MFT Challenge Blog to be linked to the other projects that the rest of the team created using this week’s Wednesday Sketch Challenge!  And while you’re there, be sure and link up your own take on this week’s sketch because we’d love to see how it inspires you!  You’ll have the chance to win a $50 Gift Certificate from My Favorite Things – BONUS!!
That’s it for me today, friends!  I’m working on some stuff behind the scenes so things are crackin’ in my craft room today!  I so appreciate you spending part of your day here with me, and I hope you’ll drop by again real soon!

Beautiful card. Love how you stamped and embossed the pretty butterfly image. The blended colors are so pretty.
