Hello!!
Today’s the day that we start sharing projects featuring the August products from My Favorite Things that will be released on Tuesday, August 8th at 9:00 PM EDT! I think you’re going to love today’s featured products as much as I do!
Today’s project features the Written In the Stars Stamp Set and the Shining Stars Die-Namics! The font of that big STAR word diecut just makes me giggle with glee!! It’s perfection! And the Written In the Stars Stamp Set is the perfect companion set! Here’s how I created my project:
- Trim a 5.5” x 8.5” card base from Black Licorice Card Stock. Score at 4.25”, fold in half and perfect the crease with a Teflon Bone Folder.
- Trim a 5.0” x 3.75” piece of Distress Watercolor Paper. With a Mini Ink Blending Tool, blend some Peacock Feathers, Mustard Seed, Seedless Preserves, Dusty Concord and Black Soot Distress Inks to create a galaxy background.
- Spritz some water with a spray bottle onto the galaxy panel and blot with a rag to remove some of the distress ink. Splatter some gold and silver watercolor onto the image panel and allow to fully dry.
- Prepare the galaxy panel using a Powder Tool. Stamp the sentiment from the Written In the Stars Stamp Set onto the galaxy panel using VersaMark Ink. Heat emboss the sentiment using Gold Embossing Powder. Adhere the galaxy panel to the card base with tape runner adhesive.
- Trim a 5.5” x 4.25” image panel from Smooth White Card Stock. Die cut a rectangle aperture from the center of the image panel using the Inside & Out Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-Namics, and the outside edge of the image panel using the stitched rectangle from the Blueprints 13 Die-Namics. Adhere the image panel to the card base with foam squares.
- Die cut the word STARS from Black Licorice Card Stock three times using the Shining Stars Die-Namics. On one of the diecuts, paint gold watercolor on the bottom half of the diecut. Allow to fully dry. Adhere the three layers together with Multi Medium Matte adhesive, making sure to place the gold watercolored layer on top. Adhere the assembled diecut to the image panel using more Multi Medium Matte adhesive.
- Add some gold glitter glue to the image panel for a simple embellishment.
There you have it! A pretty dramatic result with just a few simple products! I know the Written In the Stars Stamp Set and the Shining Stars Die-Namics will be playing at my house often!! I’ve listed and linked the products that I used below.

Beautiful design!
Dramatic indeed. The darker tones are gorgeous.
Karolyn, your framed galaxy is a great design, especially with the added black/gold star die cut. The two-color effect works so well with this scene. Thanks for sharing it as part of the release countdown.
Great Release! Awesome project! I especially love your AWESOME gallexy sky!
