Paper Smooches June Sample Wrap Up–And A Winner!!

Happy Saturday, sweet friends!!

It’s a gloriously beautiful Saturday here in the Seattle area, so it’s going to be a great weekend!  Sunshine makes EVERYTHING better, doesn’t it?!

Karolyn - Thanks Word Die

I thought I’d share the last of my June Paper Smooches samples.  These two feature a couple of the stand-alone dies that were released. The first one showcases the Thanks Word Die.  I wanted to use it in an unconventional way by doing a “half cut” with my die cut machine.  I placed the die on a piece of card stock, taped it down with some washi tape, and then ran it through my manual die cutting machine (I use a Cuttlebug, but I’m sure the same technique can be done on a Big Shot, Big Kick, etc.) without running it completely through the machine – so I stopped just short of the bottom edge, leaving it attached to the card stock.  You can see that it left an impression of the die at the bottom edge, but didn’t cut all the way through.  I then carefully removed the bits of card stock that did cut, and used my trimmer to cut from edge to edge so that the die cut stood above the cut edge, yet was still attached.  Does that make sense?  It really is easy, once you do it a time or two.

Karolyn - Clouds Dies

My second card features the Clouds dies that were released this month.  Let me just say that I ADORE these clouds!!  They are so sweet and whimsical, and add the perfect finishing touch to any card or project.  Here, I cut three squares from some uber fun Doodlebug designer paper.  I rounded the corners and set them aside.  Then I die cut three different clouds out of white card stock.  Next, I placed the same cloud dies onto the four squares (note that the dies are not placed completely on the squares – I just cut out a portion of the cloud), taping the dies down with washi tape to keep them in place when I ran them through my Cuttlebug.  I removed the colored die cuts, and replaced them with the full sized white cloud die cuts.  I taped the die cuts to the back of the squares to keep them in place, and then adhered them to the card front with foam tape.  The sentiment is from the I Heart Art stamp set.

I’ve listed the products I used on both projects below.  I think Kim is sharing some other fun stuff on the Paper Smooches blog today, so be sure and click on through to see for yourself!
