Avery Elle Throwback Thursday–Bottle It Up!

Hello again!!

Boy, it’s been a busy week on my blog this week!!  I’ve been having a ton of stampy fun, can you tell!  LOL

We’re playing Throwback Thursday over on the Avery Elle Design Team Blog today!!  This month’s throwback set is Bottle It Up (and it’s coordinating dies)!  I paired it with one of the new releases – Swim Team and it’s coordinating dies to create a fun little shaker aquarium!  Here’s how I created it:

  1. Trim an A2 top-folding card base from white cardstock; score at 5.5” and fold; perfect crease with teflon bone folder.
  2. Die cut an image panel from white cardstock using the Wonky Stitches Elle-Ments.
  3. Using the Bottle It Up Elle-Ments, position and die cut the large jar/vase (my aquarium) from the center of the image panel.  Center the image panel with the card base and draw a line around the inside of the die cut aquarium.
  4. Using the waves from the Swim Team Elle-Ments, die cut a piece of acetate and use that as mask to ink in the water and waves (I used Tumbled Glass and a Mini Ink Blending tool to accommplish this).  Erase the pencil line.
  5. Using Sea Glass pigment Ink and the Bottle It Up Stamp Set, stamp the aquarium (jar/vase) onto the card base.  Using Kraft, Strawberry, Lemon Grass and Fizz Pigment Inks, stamp the aquarium scenery.  Using black waterproof ink, stamp the blow fish from the Swim Team Stamp Set.
  6. Color the blowfish with watercolor pencils and a Dove Blending Pen.
  7. Trim a panel from acetate to fit behind the die cut aquarium – adhere it to the back of the image panel.  Adhere two layers of foam tape around the perimeter of the aquarium, leaving the release paper on the top layer of foam tape.
  8. Partially fill the inside of the aquarium with seed beads and rainstones.  Remove the release paper from the foam tape, add additional foam squares to the back of the image panel for stability,  and adhere the aligned card base to the image panel.
  9. Using the Wonky Stitches Elle-Ments, die cut the round tag.  Stamp the sentiment from the Swim Team Stamp Set using New Moon Pigment Ink.  Adhere it to the image panel with foam squares.  Tie baker’s twine through the hole in the tag.

Here’s a close up of what it looks like behind the “bubbles.”

Avery Elle Throw Back Thursday–Happy Spring!

ETA:  There's a GIVE-AWAY happening over at the Avery Elle Design Blog - check it!!  Deets can be found HERE.

Hello my lovelies!!

It’s a gorgeous and sunny day here in AZ, and that always makes me happy!  It’s also a reminder that spring is right around the corner.  The Avery Elle Design Team is revisiting a previously released AE stamp set to share some fresh and new inspiration with you all.  This month’s Throw Back Thursday is Happy Spring – a darling stamp set with lovely spring and Easter icons and images.  Here’s my new sample:

2-4-15 Throw Back Thursday Happy Spring

The set has a really sweet wreath image that was perfect for stamping in one color and then overstamping with another, to give the illusion of depth and dimension.  Here’s how I created my card:

  • Trim out an A2 top folding white card base.
  • Trim out an image panel from gingham patterned paper, and use Dotted Border Elle-Ments to create the detailed scallop border on both sides; adhere to card base with foam tape.
  • Die cut tag twice using Gift Tags Elle-Ments – once from white CS, and once from vellum.
  • Stamp wreath image from Happy Spring Stamp Set using Lemon Grass and Celery pigment inks onto vellum tag.  Stamp sentiment from Happy Spring onto tag using VersaMark and heat emboss with Liquid Platinum embossing powder.
  • Die cut flowers (I used a non-Avery Elle die that I had in my stash) from some Sea Glass, Pixie and Daisy CS, and use stylus and piercing pad to add curve and dimension; adhere to wreath with Matte Medium; add clear embellishments to centers of flowers with Matte Medium.
  • Strategically place clear foam tape behind the stamping on the tag so that it doesn’t show; adhere to white tag, slightly askew.
  • Thread white crochet cord through holes in tag and tie a bow.
  • Attach finished tag to card base with foam tape.

Easy peasy!  A fresh look at a previously released stamp set!  Some of my sweet teammates are sharing their fresh take over on the Design Team Blog – click on through and check it out!  You won’t be disappointed!

That’s it for me today, friends!!  I’ll be back tomorrow to share another project for the current Avery Elle Winter Release.  I hope you’ll come back then to see!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  I’m going to try and get caught up on some creative stuff today –first day back in my craft room since guests left and I’m Jones’ing bad!!  LOL  Have a great day!
