Karolyn - Hexalongs

Oh my goodness – I got to work with the new Hexalongs (and I might have had something to do with designing these – eeeek!!)  The Hexalongs are a set of nesting elongated hexagons – super fun and trendy right now!  I used the two smallest dies to cut out several different coordinating designer papers and placed them randomly on the panel (some are popped up with foam tape for dimension).  The sentiment is from Salutations and it’s stamped on a Notebook Bracket diecut (just trimmed up to fit.)

If you’d like to win a set of Hexalongs for your own collection, be sure and leave me some love.  I’ll be choosing a random winner from the comments left here, and will post the winner’s name on Saturday, March 1st.  Good luck!

That’s it for me today!  Phew!  Two posts in one day – that doesn’t happen very often around here!  LOL  Hope you have a great day, and an even better weekend, and thanks for stopping by!

CAS(E) This Sketch #17–Hello Honey!

Hello my sweet friends!

CTS17 Graphic

It’s time for another CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge, and oh my goodness, it’s another fun one designed by our fearless leader, Jackie Rockwell!

CTS17 - Hello Honey

I was immediately inspired by the squares and the focal image.  I love looking at a sketch and trying to visualize other shapes and items in place of the designed sketch features.  I saw random sized honeycomb with a bee hive.  I used some new dies (those funky shaped hexagons are a sneak peek of some very exciting dies that are being released by Paper Smooches tomorrow!)that I’ve recently acquired, and it came together just exactly as I had pictured it in my head!  I’ve listed the products I used below.

Well, there ya have it!  We’d love to see what you would do with this sketch!  Please click on through to the CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge Blog to link up your own project and check out the delicious samples that my teamies have created for your inspiration.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I’ll be back in a few minutes with a second post for today, and it “might” just be featuring more of those funky shaped hexagons that are in my sketch card.  Hope you’ll come back to see for yourself!

Teri and Friends Technique Tuesday Blog Hop!

Hello my lovelies!!

I have a very special treat for you today!  I was asked my the out-of this-world-amazing-designer, Teri Anderson, to join her and some of her other friends to share samples that showcase the FREAKIN’ ADORABLE stamp designs that she created for Technique Tuesday.  For those of you that are new to my blog, WELCOME! If you arrived here from Kim Kesti’s blog, you’re on the right track. If not, you’ll need to start at the beginning of the hop (Teri’s blog HERE) so that you don’t miss a thing! Oh, and there are prizes available at each stop along the way, so be sure and leave each designer some love . . . just sayin’! Heeheehee

Here’s a little bit about Teri and Technique Tuesday:

Teri started designing stamps for Technique Tuesday last Summer. She designed 30 plus stamp sets, 20 of which were released as part of their CHA-Winter release. She’s a card maker and a scrapbooker with a lot of love for card making so there’s a lot of card influence in her stamps!

Wait until you see these images – you’re going to love them as much as I do! Let’s get started, shall we?

Stop In the Name of Love

I actually have two samples to share with you today.  My first one features one of the cutest stamp sets I’ve ever worked with – it’s called Happyville Cars!  Oh my gosh – this set has some of the cutest images ever, and they are just so fun to create with!  I stamped the car and the stop light in black ink, and jazzed up the stop light with some punched circles.  I colored “Stop” with a red marker and inked up the remainder of the sentiment with black ink, and stamped it onto a word bubble die cut.  Isn’t it too cute for words?

I Puffy Heart You

I had so much fun with the first card, I just couldn’t stop myself from creating another one!  This one features a couple of Teri’s new stamp sets – the sentiment is from Puffy Hearts and the images on the buttons are from the set called With Flair.  Flair is such a hot trend these days, so I HAD to create some of my own.  I picked up one of those goofy iTop thingies from Michael’s (if I didn’t have a 40% off coupon, I NEVER would have bought that dumb thing! LOL).  I stamped the three images onto copy paper (I needed it to be pretty thin in order to wrap around the button dealies) punched them out and did my best to wrap them around the button thing-a-ma-bobs.  They don’t look as great as real flair, but they look pretty good, right?!

Ready for some other amazing projects featuring Teri’s stamps?  Well, then here’s the full list of bloggers sharing her goodies:

The hop order is:

Teri
Joy
Kalyn
Donna
Kim
Karolyn<------THAT’S ME!
Lisa
Nina
Ashley
Britta

PRIZES!!!

I mentioned prizes earlier, right?!  Well, Teri has very generously offered up one of her stamp sets for each of the above blogs – I’m giving away the set called Banner UpAll you have to do is leave me some love on this blog post before March 1st and I’ll draw a random winner.  Easy peasy, right?!

Well, that’s it for me today kids.  You’re going to want to click on through to Lisa’s blog, as she’s the next stop on the hop – no doubt she’s got more deliciousness to share with you all!  Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Please drop in again tomorrow, as I’ll have a Paper Smooches goody to share with you.  In the meantime, have a great day!

CAS(E) This Sketch #16–Great Job!

Hello Sweet Friends!

Well, I have a new “do” and clean carpets.  All is right with the world.  LOL  Oh, and I think I forgot to tell you about my weekend garage sale success!  I brought a boatload of my unloved crafty crap over to my bestie Terri’s house for her major league garage sale!!  OH MY GOSH!!  What an experience that was!  At the end of the day, I made over $1,000 (but that includes $780 from stuff that Terri sold for me on eBay while I was in Seattle)!!  WHAT?!!  Seriously, those girls (Terri’s two daughters were very seasoned contributors to the whole event, too) really know how to throw a garage sale.  Thought you’d all get a kick out of that.  Hee!

CTS16 GraphicCTS16 Graphic Sideways

Okay, enough babble about that.  Let’s get down to why you dropped by today, shall we?  This week’s CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge has two viewpoints.  Here’s my answer to the sketch:

CTS16 - Great Job

Cute, right?!  I thought this would be super fun to slip inside my grandson’s lunchbox to remind him how much I love him and how proud we are of him.  He’s only 2-1/2, but he’ll be going to school before I know it!  Wahhhhh!  LOL  I’ll list the products that I used at the end of my post.

I hope you’ll click on through to the CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge blog to link up your own answer to the sketch, and check out the delicious lovelies that my teammates created for you all while you’re there.  I know you’re going to love them!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  You all make my heart smile whenever you leave me some love.  Thank you for that!  Have a great weekend – I plan to spend most of mine in my craft room!  Woot!

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today, some of my Paper Smooches teammates and I are playing along with the girls over at the 10 Minute Craft Dash Challenge.  It’s a super fun color challenge, using the gorgeous color combo in the above graphic.  Here’s my answer to the challenge:

Craft Dash Challenge

First of all, I put this together faster than the speed of light!  LOL  There was paper and felt flying ALL OVER my craft room!  LOL  I set an online stopwatch, and it seemed as though time sped up!  Here’s the image of the stopwatch when I finished my project:

CAS(E) This Sketch #15 –You Color My World!

Hello My Peeps!

Happy Valentine’s Day!!  My hubby and I are not huge Valentine’s Day participants . . . I’m sure there were occasions when we celebrated (I actually have a vague memory of cutting off the tip of one of my fingers in the process of fixing a special VD dinner) this Hallmark holiday, but those times were few and far between.  However, there is one constant tradition for me on this day – my dad has sent me flowers since I was a little girl.  When my girls were little, he sent them flowers, too.  Our house looked like a virtual florist shop on February 14th!!  Ha!  But it is a memory that I will treasure forever.

CTS15 Graphic

Anyways, let’s get to why we’re here today, shall we?  Today’s CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge is another goodie!  It includes elements that might tweak your Valentine’s Day spirit!  I was inspired to create a “love” themed card, but not necessarily a Valentine.

CTS15 - You Color My World

I HAD to break out my new Paper Smooches Paint Palette dies because I feel like it’s the perfect icon for the focal image.  I also thought the sentiment was perfect, too!  Isn’t it so cute?!

PRODUCTS USED:

STAMPS:  Word Salad (Paper Smooches)
INK:  Chocolate Pigment Ink (Fresh Ink)
PAPER:
White Linen CS (Ellen Hutson Essentials), Blu Raspberry, Lemon Drop, and Orange Fizz CS (French Poptone), Kraft and Chartreuse CS (PTI), Going Gray CS (Stampin’ Up!), Snap DP (Simple Stories)
OTHER:
Paint Palette Dies (Paper Smooches)

We’d love for you to play along with us!  It’s a super fun sketch!!  You’ll need to click on through to the CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge Blog to link up your project and check out the lovely inspiration that my amazing teammates created for you!

That’s it for me today, cute kids!  I’m off to lunch with my BFF and to discuss the details of a garage sale that we’re doing on Saturday.  She’s a garage sale goddess, and I have a lot of crap to sell – so I’m hoping to learn from the master, and get rid of it ALL!! LOL  Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a great weekend!

Celebrate!

Hello my stamping lovelies!

Amy and Joe Engagement

How are you today?!! I’m finally back from Seattle and am so happy to be back in the Valley of the Sun . . . although it seems to be just as cold here in AZ as it was in WA.  Oh well.  I’m happy to report that our daughter, Amy, is engaged to an awesome young man named Joe.  We love Joe, and are so happy for them both!  So it seems there will be a wedding in our future – YAY!

Karolyn Dies 1 Hot Spots Small 2-13

Thought I’d pop in and share another one of my Paper Smooches February release projects.  Today’s sample features a couple of new products.  The first new product is the sentiment – it comes from the brand spankin’ new stamp set called Birthday Sampler.  This set is LOADED with brilliant sentiments for birthdays and other celebrations in your life, and of course they all feature Kim’s fun and cute handwritten lettering.  The second new product used is the Hot Spots Small Base and Hot Spots Small Set 1 dies.  The cityscape was created using Metropolis.  I used one of the snowflakes from Chilly Chums for the fireworks.  Isn’t it so fun?

Well I’m headed out the door for an amazing day of crafty goodness!  It’s been way too long, and I’m missin’ my girl!  I hope you have some great plans for the day!  Thanks for stopping in today – I am so grateful for the time you spend here!

Paper Smooches–I Heart Art!

Hello Sweet Friends!

How was your weekend?!  Mine was fabulous, mostly because quite a bit of my weekend involved creativity.  Creating just makes me happy!

Karolyn I Heart Art 2-13

Which leads me to why I’m popping in today!  I get to share another Paper Smooches sample with you for this month’s new releases!!  Today’s project features the amazing stamp set called I Heart Art!  This s

et will appeal to all of those crafty sorts in your life – it really is super versatile!  I stamped the sentiment inside the opening of the Hot Spots Large Base die cut (that opening is PERFECT for more blocky sentiments).  I then stamped some of the paint splotches from the stamp set, and die cut the Paint Palette from several colors of CS.  I love our new dies – THEY ARE AMAZING!

I think Kim has a couple of other adorable samples that she’s sharing on the Paper Smooches blog today, so be sure and click on through to see for yourself!

I’ll be cropping with a cute friend today, so you know I’ll be having fun!  I’ll be missing my usual cropping BFF, though . . . *sigh*  I hope you have some fun crafty plans in your future!  Thanks for stopping in!

Moxie Fab Itty Bitty Card Challenge & PS Pep Rally Winner!

Well hello!!

It’s been forever since I’ve posted on a Saturday!  But this truly is the first chance I’ve had to do anything creative in the past couple of weeks.  You see, I’m in Seattle because my youngest daughter got engaged on Tuesday – we are thrilled to little bits!  So with all the hustle and bustle of traveling from AZ to WA and throwing a fun little engagement party for Amy and her fiancé, Joe, my craft supplies have been extremely lonely!
75 Creative Card Challenges
Now that things have quieted down a bit, I just HAD to get my craft on!  And what better way to get back into my crafty groove than to participate in one of Cath’s current challenges for the Moxie Fab World, right?!  I haven’t played along in soooo long, and I realized when I got to actually hug sweet Cath for the first time at Winter CHA (she’s just as adorable in real life as I knew she would be), that I really miss her challenges!  So here I am, and it feels great to be back!
Moxie Fab Mini Card Challenge
Cath has several challenges going on right now for the 75 Creative Card Challenges special issue (with a deadline of Monday, February 4th, so you still have time to play along).  I chose the Itty Bitty Card Challenge, which is to create a card that is no bigger than 3” x 3”.  I am in love with the Polaroid Camera craze these days – it’s so funky and vintage, yet super graphic, too!  I created a very simple and graphic design on my Silhouette Cameo and cut it out – so freakin’ easy!  I am also loving this color combo that I saw in quite a few new paper lines at CHA – gray, tomato, aqua, and white.  It’s so fun and bright!  The sentiment that I stamped came from a new stamp set that I got from Simon Says Stamps called You.  My card measures 3” x 2.75” – it’s sooo itty bitty!

February 2013 RandomFebruary 2013 Pep Rally Winner

Lucy Newton, you were the random winner!  Please email me (garkarlon@msn.com) with your mailing address, and we’ll get that set out to you right away!  Thank you for all the kind comments – I had a blast reading every single one of them!  Oh, by the way, ALL of the new Paper Smooches products are available for sale TODAY.  You can find it all HERE.

That’s it for me, kids.  Thanks so much for visiting me today – I truly appreciate it!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
